Next steps:

  • Activate leader rotation on the testnet by the end of Week 25/3, followed by implementation on the mainnet in 3-4 weeks.
  • The first hardfork will maintain 1% voting power, with 2 slots reserved for internal Harmony nodes, serving as DNS/Sync nodes.
  • We still require assistance from 1 or 2 active validators to provide the DNS/Sync node service.
  • Ensure the removal of all backup nodes from the network before the hardfork.
  • fix for isbackup feature and new one to support add vote power prometheus metrics
  • Continue testing streamsync on the devnet; once operational on mainnet, proceed with the plan for the second hardfork to completely eliminate internal Harmony vote power.

What is the timeline with the recent staff reductions?

Update: I did get a note from Theo saying that this is almost completed in testing but we would have to wait for Soph to return later in August until there’s a formal update, fyi!

Just a quick update: I’m now pushing the HIP32 release to mid-October (and possibly later, depending on the stability fixes and testing on devnet/testnet). We recently discovered a shard 1 consensus instability that went undetected in both devnet and testnet until now.

Hello everyone,

The instability issue on Shard 1 has been resolved in both localnet and devnet. We’ll be testing it on testnet next week, and we don’t anticipate any further issues.

With that in mind, the HIP32 hardfork release is now scheduled for epoch 2152 on October 31, 2024, at 13:02 UTC. More information will be provided two weeks before the date.

Important note and reminder : Backup node will have to be shut down before the date.
