Tradescrow - Trade anyone. Anything. Safely

There is a walkthrough, but no whitepaper as there are are no tokenomics since there are no tokens. The grant proposal + the walkthrough should explain everything needed, but if you feel there is some explanation missing that you are referring to as a whitepaper please feel free to suggest it!

Who all is on the team for this project? It looks like it was funded for 20k and there has been no progress after funding as far as the community can see. Nothing against the OP, but I personally don’t think that it is appropriate to pledge to build something, get the funding, and then to accept work elsewhere. I understand that maybe I don’t know everything here or the full story, but please fill the community in.

Everything against the OP

Okay, fair, but I do mean this in a constructive way. And I am trying to hear out the OP in case there are facts that just are not public or have not been conveyed.

You’re too nice and my fuse is shorter lol

Tbh, I read this through now and while it seems like it’s a neat little app, it’s just that. I am not sure if 50k is appropriate. How much was the audit? Milestones have nothing to do with reaching users of the app, so why would it need 50k?

What I am trying to say, while I am not a dev I think I could find one, have this app done and audited and it would cost me… 10k total? For sure not 50k. I should start a business, just add simple apps for 50k grant and pocket difference

Heyo. So just to give you some more backstory:

Tradescrow was fully on-chain with no graphql usage. This was fine until it wasnt! To get a user’s historical trades, you must query events back to the genesis block of the contract deployment. As time progresses, this query gets longer and longer until you eventually elapse enough time that RPCs begin to decline your query as it exceeds the max block distance for a single request. This was magnified when harmony reduced the maximum query block amount per request.

If it would be more acceptable in the short term, i am more than happy to revert the UI to the original design, and change the query to only show the last 1024 blocks (the current maximum now in place by harmony) which would re-enable the functionality and put it in a completely working state until the improvements are complete.

Hey @DirtyCajunRice. Just chiming in to say that it looks very disingenuous to get funding for 1 project (that is your own) and leave it incomplete to work on other projects. I can understand not wanting to let go of new opportunities but making a full proposal, getting funded and leaving this midway with an unspecified date or timeframe by which something more concrete can be seen just looks like there’s a lack of commitment to your own project.

The project was funded because the application was live and working. Your allegations are false and without research. Api changes to the protocol are what broke it initially and started the rework, and time has not permitted since. I would love to hire a frontend dev to finish the rework in my stead, but they are few and far between.

Which allegation in particular? I have pretty much just said what you yourself said.

If you mean leaving a project while it is non-functional with no solid plan to rework is not leaving it “midway” because it worked once upon a time then maybe we just have different definitions of what we consider “midway”.

I mean this is technically your fault since you decided to take up new projects instead of focusing on something you already got funded for? Again, I can sympathize with taking unmissable opportunities but gotta call a spade a spade.

“Leaving half way” portrays as an allegation it was never functional, but it was.
“Something you were funded for” doesnt shackle the developer to solely prioritize the project indefinitely. it was 30k which mathematically doesnt even cover the dev work prior to the initial approval.
I want tradescrow to be back in a working state as much as anyone.
The options that exist today are either hiring a ui dev (ive been looking) or reverting it to the old build and limiting the max scan (which will make old trades not visible). The only semi-immediate option is the revert, so i will do that to appease. Ill update here when ive had a spare set of hours to do so and retest

Well I guess we really do define it differently.

Again, don’t have to do it solely. Instead of picking up 2 different projects you could pick 1? And again, you do you. Maybe the other projects are more exciting or better paying but calling a spade a spade.

Semantics aside, consider this without bias for a sec-
Random community member comes in, sees this got funded 30k, checks website- non-functional, checks comments- see you are busy on different projects and have no fixed plan for this one. What does he think- “Wow what a great use of 30k?” or “Uh, so that’s 30k for nothing concrete eh?”

He claimed his aggregator was added at 0 cost to Harmony. Come here and find out he received 30k for incomplete work and took on 2 other jobs LOL

I just want to mention his replies on certain technical issues are nonsense. Come to the Developer DAO discord to ask more… ask 9 devs their opinions on this. Complete and total nonsense.

it is reverted to v1.0, is up, and is functioning how it originally was. This will be my last reply on this thread until there is progress in whatever capacity, as the trolls are about and i dont have the free time to feed them.

Your comments are inappropriate

You’re acting very immature and devaluing anything you have to say

How are they inappropriate? I will tell you what actually is inappropriate: it’s people accepting money for deliverables they have no intention of doing.

As far as my comment saying it’s weak, I literally have quoted what dirty cajun posted, it’s his words. So if you find it inappropriate you should take it up with him. Or maybe you find inappropriate shining the light on hypocrisy and showing people how they look in the mirror?

You’re asking me how immature antics and insults, while providing no/limited constructive feedback, is inappropriate?

Kind of obvious, no?
