EPNS is the world’s first decentralized communication & notification protocol for Web3. Using the protocol, any smart contract, dApp or backend can send on-chain or off-chain notifications tied to wallet addresses of a user in a multichain, open, platform agnostic way. Being an open communication middleware, notifs can be integrated and shown on any crypto wallet, mobile apps, extension or dApps.

We can tell it’s like Braze or Urban Airship, for blockchain. This makes sense.

Questions:

  1. What’s the ask here? (how much, when and can you justify for the amount)
  2. When can the team be ready to roll this out? (specify milestones, helps with first question)
  3. How are you planning to gain adoption here with the Harmony ecosystem? (docs, tutorials, videos)
  4. What languages other than Swift (iOS) and Java (Android) will the SDK be made available to? How about Javascript (for React JS) and Dart libraries (for Flutter)?
  5. It’s been over a year since EPNS was announced, what’s the state of the launch on Ethereum? (is the sequence of launch still Ethereum first?)

About Ethereum Push Notification Service

EPNS is building the world’s first open communication layer for the Web3 ecosystem, first for Ethereum and then for L2s and other blockchains. The protocol enables any smart contracts, dApps, or traditional servers to send notifications tied to wallet addresses of a user in a platform-agnostic fashion (ie: notifs can be integrated and shown on any crypto wallet, mobile apps, extension, or dApps).

  • How are you planning to gain adoption here with the Harmony ecosystem? (docs, tutorials, videos)
    We will be partnering with present and upcoming harmony projects and help create customizable channels for each of them. Since EPNS needs to be first integrated with the dApp, post integration the adoption for the audience of the dApp would be very smooth. We will simultaneously release tutorials and videos helping the audience to enable notifications to get notified from their preferred channels.

  • What languages other than Swift (iOS) and Java (Android) will the SDK be made available to? How about Javascript (for React JS) and Dart libraries (for Flutter)?
    We have two SDKs: Frotend and backend SDKs. The Frontend SDK is in Typescript and is compatible with web, mobile, and desktop applications making use of React and React Native Libraries. The Backend SDK is also in Typescript and is compatible with Node JS applications.

  • It’s been over a year since EPNS was announced, what’s the state of the launch on Ethereum? (is the sequence of launch still Ethereum first?)
    We are launching on Ethereum Mainnet on Jan 11th and thereafter other blockchains.

Still looking forward for this through its and awesome tool. Is there an update or an ETA on Harmony? Was bit sad to see on the tweets that next is Polygon :pensive: still looking forward and hope Q2 2022 is still valid

@Austin I saw the announcement for Hermes Defi, does this mean EPNS is soon available on Harmony?

Yes! We are working with their engineers to deploy a Harmony-compatible solution. I do believe that the registration still has to be on ETH, but they should be able to process events from Harmony. We will post an update once the feature has been developed further!
