Introduction to Atlantis World

Atlantis World is building the Web3 social metaverse. We’re connecting Web3 (NFTs, DeFi + DAOs) with social, education and gaming inside of one lightweight virtual world that’s accessible to everybody.

We believe that existing metaverses set a high-cost barrier to entry and a hardware standard that doesn’t match up with global readiness due to a focus on 3d/immersive experience. We’re building Atlantis as a lightweight, 2d pixel metaverse that will run on any device in the web browser, from anywhere in the world!

We’re curating a fully fledged crypto economy of the metaverse starting with game experiences that plug into Web3 applications. You can even visit digital banks and unlock billions of dollars in liquidity for anything from savings accounts to borrowing, or freely exchange money and trade anything from financial instruments to NFT wearables and other digital goods / collectibles such as land.

We’ll build token gated cities for the top communities in Web3, starting with the founding partners of the Atlantis World ecosystem… Here, communities will be able to host virtual events powered by spatial video/audio calling, as well as NFT treasure hunts, voting in DAOs and using other Web3 applications. We’re also working hard to enable customizability features as well as building SDKs so that leading creators and developers can improve Atlantis World as a global collective. We’re building the user owned metaverse, so want to enable that as soon as possible.

We’re also working toward a planet positive future in collaboration with our users and community… which is why we’re planting a biodiverse, carbon capturing virtual forest inside of Atlantis.

Proposal

Scenario 1 - Harmony Nation

We’ll create an island nation for the Harmony ecosystem inside of Atlantis World. All land parcels / game assets will be tokenized natively on Harmony and all Web3 apps that populate the island or NATION will be native to the Harmony ecosystem.

We’ll work in collaboration with the Harmony community to grow and cultivate ONE home for Harmony token-holders, DAOs and ecosystem apps.

Beyond that, we see Harmony as founding partners on our mission to:

  1. Democratize metaverse, being lightweight first, enabling anybody from anywhere in the world to access in a web browser, on any device.
  2. Onboard the next 1B users into Web3 by creating a gamified onboarding framework inside of metaverse.

Aka… :point_right: Connect Web3 with social, gaming and education in ONE lightweight virtual world that’s accessible to everybody and owned by the community.

Inside of Atlantis, we integrate Web3 apps in a novel way whereby DAO clubhouses (complete with existing frameworks, tooling + voting mechanics), digital banks (DeFi protocols), DEXs and NFT marketplaces exist inside of metaverse in a gamified way. Soon, we’ll also launch frameworks so that any developer can build their protocol or app into Atlantis World, as well as customizability features for creators.

We’ll leverage these experiences to build efficient, interactive and incentivized onboarding pipelines. In turn, growing the Harmony ecosystem together with our other partners from across Web3, enabling network effects for all parties involved.

Atlantis World core users, as well as the users of other chains / ecosystems, DeFi protocols, NFT marketplaces, DAOs and communities that we’ve onboarded, will be encouraged to explore the Harmony Nation inside of Atlantis World and begin interacting with ecosystem apps.

We foresee that our novel Learn2Earn MMORPG-style learning quests will become a core onboarding framework for Web3, since we’re expanding on the proof of concept layer of products like Rabbithole. Users will have the opportunity to earn tokens for interacting with Web3 apps inside of Atlantis World. In the case of Harmony Nation, users would for example be incentivized to visit a money exchange building and swap assets using Curve DEX or another ecosystem app in a totally gamified way, and be guided through that learning process by an in-game NPC.

Total $85k grant funding request

  • Design Harmony Nation $25k (to be completed in Q1)
  • Design custom buildings of 3 ecosystem Web3 apps $15k (to be completed in Q1)
  • Design chosen DAO clubhouse $5k (to be completed in Q1)
  • Integrate 3 ecosystem Web3 apps $25k (to be completed in Q1)
  • Beta launch Harmony Nation with game assets tokenized on Harmony $15k (to be completed in Q2)

Next steps

  • Connecting with other ecosystem Web3 apps to enable more integrations + Harmony native utility inside of Atlantis World.
  • Airdropping Harmony Nation to the community.
  • Summoning a DAO to continue building Harmony Nation… in Harmony! Also, the majority of Harmony Nation land/game assets could be owned by the DAO, with the DAO co-ordinating core development improvements and decision making over a long term.
  • Hosting virtual events.
  • Launching sponsored Learn2Earn quests to accelerate adoption of Harmony.
  • Harmony wearables + swag inside of Atlantis World.

Scenario 2 - Harmony HQ in Atlantis City with 3 ecosystem Web3 apps + 1 chosen DAO clubhouse

We’ll design, build + implement a Harmony HQ building inside of Atlantis City. Here, new users will be guided by in-game NPCs to connect to the Harmony RPC on Metamask and begin interacting with the 3 chosen leading Web3 apps of Harmony ecosystem that we’ll integrate in a gamified way. Beyond that, we’ll also build a token-gated clubhouse building for a chosen Harmony-native DAO. Both there, and inside of Harmony HQ, users will be able to host virtual events (powered by video/audio calling), vote in DAOs + use tooling products and other fun activities like text chat and NFT treasure hunts.

Total $50k grant funding request

  • Design Harmony HQ $10k (to be completed in Q4)
  • Design chosen DAO clubhouse $5k (to be completed in Q4)
  • Integrate 3 ecosystem Web3 apps $25k (to be completed in Q1)
  • Implement all of the above to Atlantis City with NPCs in Harmony HQ $10k (to be completed in Q1)

Next steps

  • Connecting with other ecosystem Web3 apps to enable more integrations + Harmony native utility inside of Atlantis World.
  • Airdropping Harmony HQ to the community.
  • Hosting virtual events.
  • Launching sponsored Learn2Earn quests to accelerate adoption of Harmony.
  • Harmony wearables + swag inside of Atlantis World.

Scenario 3 - Harmony HQ + Harmony Nation

We’ll build both a Harmony HQ inside of Atlantis City that will include a portal to Harmony Nation. This enables us to launch on Harmony faster, having Harmony presence in Atlantis City from early Q1, whilst driving more attention to the Harmony ecosystem at the core of the Atlantis World experience.

Total $110k grant funding request

  • Design Harmony HQ $10k (to be completed in Q4)
  • Design chosen DAO clubhouse $5k (to be completed in Q4)
  • Integrate 3 ecosystem Web3 apps $25k (to be completed in Q1)
  • Implement all of the above to Atlantis City with NPCs in Harmony HQ $10k (to be completed in Q1)
  • Design Harmony Nation $25k (to be completed in Q1)
  • Design custom buildings of 3 ecosystem Web3 apps $15k (to be completed in Q1)
  • Implement chosen DAO clubhouse + already integrated Web3 apps to Harmony Nation $5k (to be completed in Q1)
  • Beta launch Harmony Nation with game assets tokenized on Harmony $15k (to be completed in Q2)

Scenario 4

On another note, it would be possible for Harmony to commit to “Scenario 1” and commit a follow-on grant to build Harmony Nation in the future, depending on how well received Harmony HQ would be by the community.

So put simply,

$50k grant funding allocation to build Harmony HQ

  • Design Harmony HQ $10k (to be completed in Q4)
  • Design chosen DAO clubhouse $5k (to be completed in Q4)
  • Integrate 3 ecosystem Web3 apps $25k (to be completed in Q1)
  • Implement all of the above to Atlantis City with NPCs in Harmony HQ $10k (to be completed in Q1)

Then,

$60k follow-up grant to build Harmony Nation

  • Design Harmony Nation $25k
  • Design custom buildings of 3 ecosystem Web3 apps $15k
  • Implement chosen DAO clubhouse + already integrated Web3 apps to Harmony Nation $5k
  • Beta launch Harmony Nation with game assets tokenized on Harmony $15k

Metrics for success

Some key success factors for Harmony Nation and HQ (inside of Atlantis World) that we see moving forwards are as follows:

  • Harmony ecosystem growth (focusing on WoW, MoM, engagement, retention).
  • Number of Harmony ecosystem Web3 apps integrated.
  • Network effects between Harmony, other chains and the wider Atlantis ecosystem.
  • Onboarding new users through Learn2Earn quests and other initiatives.
  • Community engagement (virtual events, community gatherings, gamified DAO voting/governance, NFT treasury hunts, etc).

Final Notes

We’re currently building hard on a completely new version of Atlantis which we’re planning to ship before EOY. On our first prototype / demo version we currently have over 2k active users, for the new version we have over 6k early access sign ups.

We’re still fully bootstrapped, managing to scale our team to 7 full time core contributors on the back of grants, collabs + our own capital. So, the support of Harmony would be huge to us in helping us build the user owned metaverse for public good whilst accelerating the adoption of both Harmony ecosystem and Web3 in general. In terms of user ownership, we want to enable that ASAP, though we’re exploring alternative methods vs launching a token as it stands right now.

Our current ecosystem partners have social media communities of 2.5M+ users that will be invited to beta test Atlantis and become our early adopters. Joint marketing is a core part of our GTM and we’re onboarding new partners at an unprecedented rate.

We also plan to enable network effects for all parties involved, by incentivising and encouraging different partner communities to try each other’s products inside of Atlantis. As well as this, we’ll also target non crypto natives with interactive learning for DeFi and other Web3 building blocks like DAOs, blockchain games and blockchain wallets, even creating core Web3 onboarding and wallet creation experience.

We also have super active 5k+ Discord users, with 700+ mobilising to make a contribution to our GR11 grant (in the early days when we had only around 1000 community members).

Thank you for submitting a proposal to Harmony’s $300M Ecosystem Fund

We are in the process of reviewing your proposal. We would also love :blue_heart: to have the Harmony community participate to ask questions and provide feedbacks.

If you have more details to add, please do so by replying to this thread.

Hi @CJH , thank you for your patience on this. Given the guidelines of the Launch grant, the cap is $50k distributed upon the completion of 5 tranches.
Taking a look at your scenarios, #2 would be the most fitting, followed by scenario #4 (given that only the first part is approved, and the second part would need to be approved again on a follow-up proposal).

Please let us know if these scenarios are still up to date, or if there are changes to be made.
Further, here’s a recap of the Launch guidelines, outlining deliverables and when each funding tranche is released:

500 Launches ($20M). Applications of each launch must have prototyped a feature-full product. Harmony helps incubate these founding teams with product development, fundraising, and talent recruit. We recommend a $50K equity-free contribution each:

$10K after launching a feature-complete product on our testnet $10K after forming a DAO with 5-out-of-9 multisig with our DAOs $10K after launching on our mainnet with audit $10K after 1K daily active users (with launch video, full PR promotion) $10K after 10k daily active users (with a detailed roadmap, governance process)

Thank you again, and looking forward to your response.

Hi Gabby

Thanks for your response. Please let me know if you’d like me to add you to our Telegram group with Harmony fam. We’ve been hoping to jump on a call with Sam whenever he’ll be available.

In re: launch grant tranches… those milestones don’t make sense for Atlantis, we’re building something v novel that doesn’t align with a typical Harmony app launch grant. that’s why we’ve created detailed proposal and milestone / dollar tranches that are fit for purpose. For example, we’re not actively developing smart contracts here (rather integrating existing Harmony apps) so it doesn’t make sense that we’d get an audit and have a milestone $ released for that purpose. Also, it wouldn’t make sense to launch on testnet and we already have 2k+ active users as well as 6k+ sign ups for our end of Jan Alpha launch (but we closed that form, we’ve grown now to 15k on twitter and ~8k discord community).

We really want to push to include Harmony in our alpha launch (end of Jan), but if we delay this for much longer then it’s not going to be possible. We first submitted this proposal well over a month ago and originally received green lights from Stephen back in Lisbon. We even recorded a video interview that was shared to official Harmony channels, another source of concern since we don’t want to disappoint the community. Anyway, we overall really appreciate your time, care and attention. We’re so excited to make this work and deliver something Harmony fam love.

Please do your best to advise on next steps. Tysm in advance!

This is a great concept and idea. This proposal does not fit the Launch grant based on the guidelines at Apply for Grants or DAO.

Also, as a DAO, let’s relook at the guidelines on DAOs and it may fit that better, with clear mandates and guidelines.

We love the energy and enthusiasm you bring in. Please resubmit the proposal that fits the DAO guidelines and we can proceed further from there. We will close this thread for now. Thank you
