Slothtopia Metaverse and Avatars to Harmony

Name of Project: Slothtopia

Proposal overview:

Slothtopia is a 3D metaverse that was originally deployed on the Fantom blockchain. We have taken a “tech first” approach the building a metaverse game. We launched the first in-game avatar mint. You can mint in game and then play with the avatar minted. In addition we allow interoperability between our avatars and the avatars from other projects. This allows anyone on Harmony who has a metaverse ready avatar to allow their community to use that avatar in Slothtopia

We also allow for other projects to mint their NFTs in our metaverse. Their NFT will render in game for immediate use by their community.

In addition, we have condos/galleries that are ownable and fully customizable by our users. Hang NFTs on the wall, play mini-games, use your custom avatar, furnish with in-game assets, invite friends over, exit into the main world. This is much like a mix on OnCyber and Portals. Land sales are coming next. Same fully customizable interface as the condos/gallery where land owners can use in game assets (or build their own) to customize their land. Land owners also get full access to the functionalities built in game (like minting).

We would want to build a Harmony downtown area where we feature Harmony and it’s top projects in custom builds. The builds will have functionality built in per the projects request. Allow for mints, trading on DEXs, or curated galleries. A place for the Harmony community to gather, learn, and interact. We would also launch a new collection of avatars and in game assets that are all themed accordingly to the Harmony blockchain

We currently have a community of over 3,000. Over 1,500 MAU in game in our prototype release. Our team consists of 13 people, with seven being daily contributors to the project. The project was self-funded by the creator and then we received more funds through our avatar mint.

Our next steps (besides the condo/galleries and land sales) are to build an in-game DEX/AMM that allows for NFT staking as well. This will be in game and also a standalone webGL build (a first of it’s kind). We think gamifying a DeFi protocol could bring in new users and ease the difficulty of using DeFi for beginners.

Proposal ask
$50,000 USD

Metrics for success:

We want to break the 10k MAU mark for users in-game. Would like to become the first webGL built DEX/AMM to reach $50m TVL

This would be a great add to Harmony! I’ve been following the Slothtopia project since the early days and they always have overdelivered their promises. The roadmap and the develpoment has been amazing and big things are yet to come!

Hi, I’m with Harmony core team working on Metaverse. Saw your Launch proposal, and it looks exciting. I’m not the one officially reviewing, but I help projects meet their goals to launch.

For the ports grants, we typically engage with projects already with active 10K users, and engaging their teams in public forums. One of our team will likely respond on your post asking for more info within the next 2 weeks.

If that doesn’t work, another route to find out about might be our launch grant, whose information is below:

harmony.one/apply-launch

Launches - 50k for milestone-based funding:
• $10K after launching a feature-complete product on our testnet
“Testnet Launch” means launching a feature-complete product on Harmony Testnet. We define feature complete to include a user interface, connection to a wallet (Metamask, Harmony ONE Chrome Extension, etc.) on Testnet, and can be tested end-to-end by at least 100 users.
From https://talk.harmony.one/t/harmonyworld-metaverse-on-harmony/10254/9
• $10K after mainnet launch with audit
• $10K after forming a DAO with its community
• $10K after 1K daily active users (with launch video, full PR promotion)
• $10K after 10k daily active users (with a detailed roadmap, governance process)
From https://talk.harmony.one/t/funding-my-dao-should-i-stay-or-should-i-go-now/3511
Sample launch proposal: Launches: Zombie Quest 3000 "Sample"
Applications of each launch must have prototyped a feature-full product. Harmony helps incubate these founding teams with product development, fundraising, and talent recruit.

Two simple and direct questions:

  • Is the project still based on FTM network?
  • Let me get that right, this proposal is about getting funded for a metaverse portal about Harmony and its network on Slothtopia. If this assertion is correct, how would Slothtopia come in handy for the Harmony network?

Thanks.

@PacScarlatti

Thanks for reaching out! I did sent you a DM on Discord as well.

Yes, we are currently deployed on Fantom. Coming to Harmony would offer the network a few advantages such as:

  1. Bring Fantom users and community over to Harmony

  2. Customize the avatars and architecture in the Harmony build to match the theme of the network

  3. Build a network specific downtown area featuring top projects on the network including functionality for each of the projects to use their builds as they see fit

  4. Bring liquidity to Harmony by building a DEX

Hi Brian,

Thanks for your reply! I did see that Harmony is looking for projects with 10k active users for the ports program. We definitely do not have that, yet

Should I go ahead and apply under the launch program? We would be able to meet four of the five milestones (minus the 10k users) fairly quickly because we already have built the functionalities, we just need to add the Harmony network connection.

Just didn’t want to go with the launch program off the get-go because we already do have a working project and over 1k users. I feel like Slothtopia is kind of in the middle between the two programs. Let me know what you think is best and I will follow that lead.

Thanks for your proposal, it has been assigned to @papi, who will review and respond shortly :blue_heart:

Hey team - if the app exists on another chain, then it’s a Port.

What’s your plan for the instance on Fantom? If you will continue to support, what’s the go-to-market and plan of growth on Harmony while still supporting the Fantom community? Would Harmony be considered an “outpost”, using cross-chain to reach new chains and communities, but the “home” app will always be on Fantom?

Thanks and looking forward to your responses.

Hi @papi. Thank you for taking the time to reach out!

The project will continue on Fantom and we will continue to build that community

The go-to-market strategy on Harmony will consist of:

  1. Community outreach: Making connections with the projects, developers, and investors in the Harmony network. Community always take time to build. The fact that we will come to Harmony with a working metaverse should help. Our in-game functionalities are focused on attracting in other projects (especially NFT) to build inside Slothtopia so this should also be a great catalyst for helping build community!

  2. Put together a build with Harmony (and it’s projects) as the centerpiece. The metaverse can read contracts on every EVM chain but only write to one chain per build. All the in-game assets are pulled from the cloud (not hard coded). So the Harmony build and the Fantom build will look identical and be in the same metaverse. When you go to the Harmony build you will spawn as an avatar in the Harmony downtown. This part of the build will focus exclusively on Harmony. I will invite other projects to join and offer them functionalities (such as minting inside) for their communities to enjoy. In addition, I will create in-game avatars that use Harmony themes and branding for the community

While Slothtopia is a native Fantom project, there is no reason to not port it to new chains. Our primary focus in coming cross chain is to build the community on that chain. The two items mentioned above are how we plan on accomplishing this. I am sure some of the Fantom community will be excited to learn more and join Harmony and vice versa, but that is not what we will be relying on to build the community on Harmony

I hope this answers your questions!

Can you please share data from the fantom deployment? DAU, etc.

Of course. In the last 30 days we have had 511 unique visitors. We have had over 250 of them connect their wallet to transact in game.

This was more of our prototype launch. Our next deployment will have much more interaction built in with users being able to customize their spaces, save changes, and invite others over. A prototype demo of this deployment will be live tomorrow. We expect a large increase in users and awareness from this

We do have a lot more development planned and happening including developing an erc20 token for out metaverse alpha launch as well as launching out our decentralized exchange

Would love to schedule a voice/video call with you to discuss further!

Matt

Hey @papi have you seen the demos I posted of our newest deployment? Check it on Twitter under @slothtopiaNFT. We have been building a lot of new functionalities and have been focusing primarily on user customization in game

Apologize for the late reply - was at an offsite last week and trying to get through a backlog.

Okay, thanks for sharing numbers on Fantom and for the demo found on your twitter account. We’re evaluating many projects at the moment and will get back to you. Thanks for your patience.

Thank you for the update! Would love to work with Harmony and look forward to hearing the results of your evaluation

Matt

Hey team - I’m at an offsite this week so, wanted to give you a quick update so you know I’m not ghosting you. I’ll be sure to review next week when i’m back.

Peter,

Not a problem at all. Very much appreciate the update!

We have been shipping lots of new updates the past few weeks and our newest release is coming this week. I think you will be pleasantly surprised in your review of our project with all of our continued development! @slothtopianft on Twitter

I like your project. In case of launching on the Harmony network, I want to cooperate with you

hey @slothtopia - thank you for sharing your proposal with us. I want to provide you with an update on our grants program. The text below is a copy/paste, but I am sending it with the same TLC that I would send any personalized message with. I care about your game and simply want to see you succeed.

As you may be aware, all funding for grants and investments are on hold. I would like to invite you to join our discussion here so that you can be fully informed and stay in the loop as things unfold.

That said, I want to encourage you to continue building. Our goal is clear: to make Harmony the leader in gaming and to make it as easy as possible for you to build, launch, and find success with your game. Most importantly, we care about the relationship we can build together. Please reach out to me on Telegram so we can make this happen. As you build, you still have access to our team for technical support. As you launch on mainnet and gain user traction, there are many ways a partnership with Harmony can lead to great things - even without funding.

Today, we released this video to highlight the many features that makes Harmony a great place for web3 gaming:

Thank you for considering Harmony as the home for your game launch. I look forward to cheering you on and am here to assist you in any way I can.
