Proposal overview
We are hosting a monthly workshop event at Atlas Cafe, the proclaimed “crypto cafe” of San Francisco. The date of this next workshop, a tutorial on how to build your own Dapp, is still being determined but is expected to be sometime during late November.
The idea behind this project is that we are educating the public on how to be crypto-literate from learning how to code NFTs to understanding how the blockchain operates as a whole. So far, we are 1 month into making this idea, the Harmony Ambassador role, a reality. We are still gathering resources to make the next event possible.
My role in Harmony is in its beginning stages but has already borne fruit. It is live on Harmony since Li Jiang, Harmony’s COO, funded $1,000 to us to host our very first Solidity workshop event.
We have 17 active members on our Meetup page and aim to get 1,000 Youtube subscribers on our Youtube channel. We currently have 81 subscribers on Youtube. The Meetup and Youtube pages are associated with both Harmony and the presenter’s DAO.
We need enough funding to cover other camera equipment, which should be about $850 for a conservative estimate. My more realistic estimate is that I will be spending about $1,000 due to tax and delivery fees.
My milestones are 1,000 Youtube subscribers since that will allow us to record events from a phone camera instead of relying on our Canon A50 camera constantly. Another milestone would be helping Harmony gain more notoriety by having members follow Harmony on Twitter.
We need help doing videography and troubleshooting tech issues like having laggy video. We also are lagging behind on communication with the Harmony team. In our first event, we asked Harmony to show up, but no one showed for the first one and a half hours. After that point in time, Colin showed up and provided a lot of support as an experienced tech person. If we could rely on Colin or someone like Colin to show up on time to each of our events, that would help boost Harmony’s reputation since we would have a solid showing of Harmony’s team.

Proposal ask
$2,000
Justification
We were able to get 20 new members into Harmony after the previous event. This is a much-needed activity that people have been long anticipating. Our experience has been that more people are interested in crypto and that we are generating a conversation about Harmony. We were also successful in advertising the Harmony name throughout the event especially with the stickers provided by Li and the presence of Colin.
$1,000 for funding the event hosting at Atlas Cafe. We need to pay their staff for about 3 to 4 hours of activity.
$1,000 for additional camera equipment which includes the following:
Cost | Item |
---|---|
$76 | Personal Mic that is attachable |
$45 | Laptop Cooling pad |
$340 | Laptop strong enough to run OBS |
$15 | HDMI cable |
$75 | Hotspot for boosting wifi signal |
$15 | Strong cables for amps that connect to the big speakers |
$50 | non-genuine camera battery at Fireside |
$11 | Long micro-USB cable |
$180 | Canon microphone |
$30 | Samdisk USB sim card reader |
$69 | Meetup Subscription semi-annually |
We also need Harmony merchandise to give out to people. If we could get stickers and shirts to hand out, that would be phenomenal. Is this supposed to be considered to be part of my budget?
