Proposal overview
A crypto Hub for Harmony in Los Angeles
Block 3x0 is a Los Angeles, monthly meetup chapter powered by Harmony and Ambassador DAO. This event is focused on builders but ultimately, it is a casual, inclusive space where blockchain enthusiasts, beginners, and creators gather to co-create and align. Builders are encouraged to briefly speak about their project, and connect with other like-minded individuals. We’ve created a community in just a few weeks.
- This particular event’s main discussion: Speed Networking and learning about emerging projects, blockchain, and Harmony Defi 101 (20 min educational presentation provided by Ambassador DAO).
We’re growing out of Ambassador DAO’s max attendees of 30. This will be our second event. The first one was thrown via Ambassador DAO (Kayla). The turnout was great, with lots of interested parties wanting to learn and build on Harmony.
However, the bandwidth wasn’t there for just one person. Los Angeles is currently #1 in NFT ownership worldwide & considered a crypto hub—there is real potential here (the writer of this article attended the event & took photos). In fact, these intimate settings may be more effective in onboarding projects/communities into the ecosystem than some larger events.
Block 3x0 aims to be a regular meetup where builders are able to ask questions, build projects, spark curiosity, engage with other builders, and layout the foundation of web3.
Proposal ask
$3,300 + Harmony Merchandise. (Optional: Team Building Ice-breaker $250)
The budget will go towards:
- The venue, cleaning fee/deposit, 3-4 hours (entire Sky Lounge, 300 people max)
- Food & Drinks for 100+ (Mostly Costco for alcohol, non-alcoholic drinks, appetizers. Finger food, TBA)
- Labor, event set up, extra hands
- Hosts (Harmony team) in LA: Garrick, @adrianrobison, or @dcarranza as co-hosts.
- (one-time purchase) Projector, Projection Screen, & Projector Tripod Stand for presentation. This time the entire presentation will take place in the sky lounge. The conference room area will be too small.
- Parking reimbursements in LA (for the few who request it)
With the funding, we will be able to extend the event from 2 hours to 3-4 hours (Sky lounge).
