Proposal overview

MindDAO is a DAO supporting LGBTQIA+ and Mental Health causes within the new web3 economy. We utilize the DAO structure to decentralize the growth and future of our impact and to create a grass roots inclusive future for Harmony and the web3 society as a whole.

We will function as the hub of diversity and inclusivity by promoting research, leaders, and projects impacting MentalHealth and LGBTQIA+ causes.

  1. AWARENESS - let the world know we are not rare. The neurodivergent, non-heteronormative, and those within the queer space and mental health afflictions are more common than we think. We want to give a better voice and representation to those who are marginalized in the web2 world so that we donā€™t repeat this tragedy in web3 via the power of Harmony ONE

Success Metrics for AWARENESS:

  1. Number of participants and the diversity of their background sectors, as well as their seniority positions. 2) Number of positive publications of journalists 3) Number of active followers and interactions on twitter, medium, discord, muse, and telegram
  1. RESEARCH / FUNDING - we will act as a Komorebi style DAO fund once we reach a critical endowment of $1M via NFT drops, token sales, donations, and other funding. we will invest in mental health / LGBTQIA+ infra to application layer companies in the new web3 frontier

success metric for RESEACH / FUNDING: 1) number of projects funded / supported. the impact of the project itself. the longevity of the project. 2) amount of diversity within founding team and target customers. depth of need. 3) amount of funding raised to support causes.

  1. ACTIVISM / IMPACT - we will create our own initiatives to give a voice to the LGBT+ and MentalHealth community. Currently we are in contact with the Japanese Foreign Embassy to lobby for mental health and LGBT rights. We will be creating an education program to bring queer awareness to the basic education system as well.

success metrics for ACTIVISM / IMPACT: 1) common knowledge of impact campaign amongst target market. real impact of help from outreach programs.

Launch Stages

  1. Develop and Launch MIND / GENDER initial NFT drop to grow the initial core community
  2. Build the Kamakura Buddhist Shrine for Mental Health and LGBTQ donation on bit.country (current partner) and other metaverses.
  3. Economy and governance, where MIND and GENDER tokens are distributed to gain decision making power and economic value

mindDAO has completed itā€™s public discord, website, and NFTs and is on the finish line of launching the product on testnet. We are seeking funds to facilitate development and gain early traction.

we are looking for 80k for DAO creation on harmony ONE.
we are looking for an ADDITIONAL 100k to kickstart the fund. all 100k will go to the fund
we are looking for a final 100k to build a multilingual NFT market place for developing countries on Harmony ONE and Polkadot

we are looking for a total of 280k for a period of 1 year. All team members are full-time.

launched marketing campaign for the next round of incoming governors, solicited at least 9 governors to post their candidacy on the [Harmony forum] scheduled DAO elections and prepared a [binder] for incoming governors to onboard quickly. 12/31/21

NFT airdrop tasks will be scheduled and we will apply for a LAUNCH GRANT once the DAO is set up

There definitely is a place for Non-Profit / Social DAOs on Harmony just donā€™t think anyone has figured it out yet. Setting up a legal nonprofit DAO to help fund these projects and accept donations as tax deductible contributions would be a huge step. I see funding to projects in early stages as match funding and mentorship until they can become self sufficient. Unfortunately nonprofits arenā€™t the easiest to setup and have a cost to run within the legal definition along with strict accounting rules. Donā€™t have any doubt that the Harmony community will figure this ONE out.

thank you so much for your thoughtful reply kenny. I understand forming an NGO DAO is not easy. So this is why we have partnered with etherize entities as show in our partners section to help with our legal side. With the network of the mindDAO and harmony ONE I envision to create a network of mentors to help assist and fund early stage projects. I am going full time to figure this ONE out.

Thank you for your submission and for your patience as I clear through my backlog of DAO funding requests.

I am interested in learning more about your DAO and what you are working to accomplish.

However, relevant to the DAO Grant request, may I ask you to visit the DAO Funding Guidelines and take a look at the the DAO Bootstrap Grant: Minimal Considerations portion.

The entire post is relevant but I would like to encourage you draft your DAO Grant request to follow those guidelines. Namely:

  1. Mandates: 3 mandates. Specific. Precise. Each mandate to have two sub-clauses to provide further clarification on these mandates. All three mandates and their sub-clauses should fit within a tweet.

    1. EXAMPLES:

      Developer DAO:
      Support -       Resolve daily issues on forums & channels, drive weekly meeting agenda
      Bounties - Prioritize bugs & features with task management & contributor retention
      Advocacy - Hold workshops & events, content marketing with talks & blogs

      Basic DAO:
      Timesheets -       Help contributors track work hours & deliverables in public
      Payroll - Setup paid challenges, wallets, streaming payments & taxes
      Reviews - Follow up performance feedback for bonus or penalty, rage quits, or kicks.

  2. Deliverables: Looking forward for the next 3 months only, identify key deliverables directly tied to the mandates of your DAO that you will be focused on accomplishing. Be specific. Chart, in steps, how you will get from where you start to delivering your goal.
  3. Metrics: Quantifiable and verifiable. List the ā€œstretch goalā€ metrics that you and your DAO will be using to measure your impact in furthering your mandate. Low bars of success indicate a certain level of disengagement, while high bars and stretch goals indicate confidence in yourself and your community to accomplish that about which you are passionate.
  4. Governors: List the 9 governors that will start your DAO. NOTE: As we have said in the DAO Funding Guidelines (Guidelines for Harmony Grants) being a governor is not about having a part-time job. Think about your three mandates and try to find passionate individuals that have the skillset and expertise to help you accomplish those goals.
  5. Gnosis Safe Multisig Wallet: Establish a multisig wallet that requires 5 out of the 9 governors to approve the disbursement of funds.
  6. Schedule the Next Election: DAOs are not kingdoms. The initial governors do not rule by divine right, nor are they supposed to be ā€œGovernors-for-Lifeā€. DAOism is about community. About passionate participation in projects. It is vital that we have a regular rotation of community members experiencing the responsibility of managing the DAOs treasury.

There are a lot of things we really enjoy about this proposal and what the mindDAO hopes to accomplish. Unfortunately, this proposal hasnā€™t met the criteria necessary to be approved. This specific proposal is declined without prejudice.
