Harmony DAO-Thon
Data Natives believes in the power of community, growth together and support each other, those are values that represents and align with Harmony One. With that in mind we designed a proposal to help Harmony achieve its goals: create meaningful connections, help people develop quality DAOs and have the ongoing community engaging and inspiring new ones throughout mentorship and sharing their own experiences.
Data Natives will like to co-design, promote and excuse the first DAO-Thon (hybrid format) along Harmony during our Flagship event Data Natives Conf. by taking a structure similar to the concept of the Hackathon but addressing challenges like:
- Education: What is a DAO and how does it work?
- Awareness: How to expand and acquire new talent?
- Mentorship: provide the right tools and guidance to create quality Daos. Harmony’s community and partners (BlueDao, MadNFT, gamefi) work as connectors and mentors for participants.
- Incubation: invest and growth the best projects.
It all comes down to organize and put all Harmony’s tools in a structure which ultimate goal is making Harmony the go to organization that people trust to create DAOs.
Estructure of the DAO-Thon:
*Pre-event there’s going to be a strong education campaign about the topics we are going to address, what is Harmony, what are DAO’s, etc. Webinars, articles, posts, meetups, slack and discord channels participation, etc.
- Registration period: May 1st. - August 30th
- Day 1 - August 31st. Presentation - Talks - Workshops - Team formations
- Day 2 - September 1st. Mentoring sessions - Draft proposal
- Day3 - September 2nd Finale: Project submission - Evaluation - Live pitch and closing ceremony
Why Data Natives? expertise, community, reputation and reach and this year we’d like to bridge the gap between Web 2 and web 3. at moment the Web3 ecosystem is very insular and to really expand it has to form relationships with large companies outside its niche and we can fast track that networking. We are talking education, sharing expertise, understating the role that data plays in the decentralized world, new business models, recruiting and matchmaking with thousands of data experts and engineers.

In average we can get a community reach for the DAO-Thon of +260.000 people. Since is new and a lot of education, awareness and building trust needs to be established, months ahead the main event so people comes with a base knowledge of what DAO’s are, what idea they’d like to delivered. We are going to focus in achieving a goal between 80-100 DAOs. It’s the first one, so there’s a leadership aspect in it.
How much funding do you need?
The DAO-Thon will take place during Data Natives Conference Berlin, August 31st - September 2nd. We will take care of all the production, logistics, will create a strong communication campaign, venue / online platform, matchmaking, deliver results, Brand Awareness, Stage time and along Harmony will craft the agenda and structure for the DAO-Thon. Total cost will be: 150.000€ - The partnerships should start Mid-April the latest to guarantee results.
What are your milestones?
- Create a successful model that Harmony can replicate and use in different events to achieve its ultimate goal: 10.000 by 2026.
- Educate our community about DAOs and help them take the first steps into it.
- Have as a result between 60-100 DAOs with the DAO-Thon. (exclusively design for Harmony and family)
What help do you need, or what gaps are there in your team?
The biggest concern is to start as soon as possible. We have few weeks to educate, engage and prepare. We are paving the way for a new concept and as pioneers we face the challenge to engage and get people excited about it. That means Harmony and Data Natives will be leaders in (Data) DAOs.
Other than that we’d like to have mentors, jury’s, and the Harmony community owning and managing the content (that mostly aligns with our Data Community), challenges and incubator we’ll set for the participants.
