dProduct Management
Proposal overview
I am Customer Experience Product Manager for a (web2) Payments-as-a-service FinTech. One of the areas that I own is onboarding and this is exactly what drew me into web3. Everyone in this space has faced the user experience (UX) barriers to entry. As a dedicated advocate for the user, I leveraged my prior experience as a Consultant Mechanical Engineer in the Nuclear Services Industry to transition into Product Management. With a keen interest in UX/UI my main focus is creating and iterating quality user centred financial products.
I attended ETHDenver as a H.E.R. DAO scholar and used my time at the conference to listen and understand major pain points that exist in web3. I am extremely happy to be granted this pre-seed investment from Harmony as I particularly enjoyed my time spent with both the core team and all of the contributors. Harmony curated a warm and inclusive environment at ETHDenver and it is a pleasure to be a part of the grant family, I look forward to building the future with Harmony One!
dProduct Management Overview
At ETHDenver I heard many speakers say that we need build on web2 successes in web3. Product Management is one of those successes: Sitting at the intersection of UX, business and technology it is a discipline that improves efficiency and ensures that the right products are being built. Since I onboarded into web3 in December 2021 I have noted that this role is generally non-existent in web3, partly due to the immaturity of the space. Product Managers hold a holistic view of software development and are able to drive production.
The problem with Product Management is that it is a highly centralised role and that doesn’t fit into the decentralised web3 ecosystem however I believe that this role can be adapted as it is essential for web3 mass adoption. Decentralised Product Management (dProduct Management) is a term that with time will become more common, at this time there is no community for web3 product managers to ideate and develop a cohesive framework in a decentralised way. I would like to explore this area further in web3.
