Freyala 2021 Hackathon
Proposal overview
Our 2021 Hackathon targets developers in both the Harmony and general cryptocurrency space, kickstarting community projects in the Freyala ecosystem.
We will personally be putting forward $50,000 in prizes (in $XYA).
Freyala started off as a community, and has blossomed into an ecosystem driven by various projects revolving around gamification and decentralized applications. Everything in Freyala sets up the foundation for our 3D crypto-driven auto battler game “CryptIDs”.
But, there is so much more that we can still do. The abilities of ERC20 and ERC721 tokens on Harmony are endless ‒ not limited to a single project or chain.
The majority of tokens and projects in the cryptocurrency space rely on a single team. The majority of which are not decentralized, and this often leads to failure.
Freyala’s primary goal has always been decentralization. The frontend is hosted on IPFS and the backend is on-chain. With Freyala being a community token we can also decentralize our growing ecosystem, allowing developers to utilize our ERC20 and ERC721 tokens.
This hackathon is the kickstarter event for community projects! Harmony makes it easy for other developers to work on a vast array of projects, from minigames to DeFi.
What exactly are we looking for? Well, we want people to go wild.
Gamify and DeFi
The hackathon consists of two sections: Gamify and DeFi.
Each section has a $25,000 pool. The Freyala team, along with the community, will judge the projects submitted. The prizes are as follows:

The judges will audit the entries by code, utilization and completion.
These projects will also have the chance to become our first official community projects, with integration into the Freyala ecosystem and support from our development team. We will create a multisig wallet containing $XYA for any project that requires the tokens payout, depending on the emissions. This means there will be extra security checks, audits and mathematical checks.
Every serious entry will be rewarded with a Frey and CryptoPig NFT. We will then reach out to these candidates to join our bi-monthly community project Hackathons (taking place after the Freyala 2021 Hackathon).
GAMIFY
Gamify involves gamifying either our token(s) or NFTs in any way. ERC20 or the ERC721 token. We explicitly mean Gamify (not GameFi). This means that the project does not have to revolve around finance, but the main focus should be on the game itself. However, either one of our tokens (or multiple) is a required form of contribution for this Hackathon section.
Both desktop and mobile projects are accepted. We value completion over length, so it is better to have a finished smaller-scale project than a larger project that is lacking many components.
DEFI
DeFi entails both utilizing and tracking DeFi. This can include a project-wide dashboard, a Freyala NFT platform or a liquidity incentivization protocol. Our main focus in 2022 will be onboarding new members and aiding them through the ecosystem as seamlessly as possible.
This also means we want to be independent from external parties and resources. It’s time to remove the barrier to entry.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
What programming languages and/or frameworks are required?
If you wish for the project to be integrated within our World App, the required framework is Vue2 and should use Ethers as Web3 library. If the project is a standalone, all frameworks, languages and libraries are accepted as long as it is a Web3 project.
How many people can be in my hackathon team?
There is no limit! Solo developers and teams are all welcome.
What happens if I don’t submit within the deadline?
Then we cannot accept your submission. To be fair to everyone else, we cannot allow any extensions or make exceptions. We recommend just handing in what you have if you are running out of time.
