Investments: CryptIDs - Multiplayer Autochess-Style Battler with Gamified NFTs

This is going to be a cornerstone of Harmony.
The competence of the team will have a guaranteed product on time without cutting out the meat of the promised material.
As a community member I’m literally betting my money on this project surging new users into ONE.
As a community manager I’d be granting money to this project to maximize the effect, since the shockwave will effect all of the apps within the ecosystem.

Really enjoy the development so far especially the progress in the last couple months. The community is really great and one of the best to be apart of. With all the integrations of other projects into freyas ecosystem is it not too challenging having ideas constantly thrown around or keeping track of it all?

I have been invested with xya for many months and they have held high liqudiity and interest during development. The game is highly anticipated and should bring alot of tvl to harmony protocol! I am excited to play it as it rolls out ! Thanks Tail

Freyala has one of the absolute best communities in the harmony network. It’s been a pleasure watching this project grow under Freya, Tail and others. Been invested for some time and very much looking forward to my first cryptid

That’s what the cross platform plots will be for! Kind of OOP way of adding in other projects!

@freyala Great to see how far you guys have progressed!

Questions:

  1. what is the timeline you’re hoping to hit the number of 5K-10K DAUs?
  2. what’s the team make-up (number of designers, developers, and their background)?
  3. how can Harmony help?

What is the timeline you’re hoping to hit the number of 5K-10K DAUs?
We’re hoping to get the first user-playable beta out by the end of the year; this would mean that we can focus more on gaining DAUs around this time. We want to have our last beta version hit 5K DAUs, so we can continuously test all new updates and start the game with a healthy user base.

Before any official version of the game will be released, we would like to launch the NFTs (Harmons) that will be used to play the game. This - in combination with in-game footage, heavy marketing at that time and a cinematic - should attract enough users to start the game with enough player-hosted lobbies.

What’s the team make-up (number of designers, developers, and their background)?
We currently have 2 active designers and 1 (temporarily) inactive designer. One designer works as the animations supervisor for the hit show “Rick and Morty” (and more!), one designer has experience in game design (examples include NFL and Halo Combat Evolved) and another designer does marketing for a living, making him the perfect person to stylize the game.

We also have 3 active developers working on the game. Two of which are not familiar with crypto and prefer to stay anonymous; these will primarily be handling the balancing and mechanics for CryptIDs. The other active developer overviews the connection with crypto, and he will be making all the smart contracts and the SDK to connect to Unity3D with (a mix between ChainSafe and Nethereum).

There’s various other people in our team handling community management, social media and marketing. This amount varies from time to time, and we are trying to upgrade this part of the team together with our community: they know us. They know our users. And in short, we couldn’t have done this without them!

How can Harmony help?
Investment for more manpower is our main concern at the moment. We have gathered a good amount from the ICO, of which 60% went to liquidity. While we still search for and prefer more liquidity, our first target would be finalizing the game and bringing our vision to life.

For that we need more designers, which means we need funding to pay for said designers. Other positions we are seeking out include 3D modelers, riggers, animators and flash screen designers. Later this year, we would like to split open game features to have various developers working on specific parts of the game. Although we would possibly still seek more funding in the future, the requested amount would make sure we can recruit a team of innovative individuals and continue developing CryptIDs stress-free.

That’s an awesome idea! It has worked beautifully for modern mobile gaming. Gives the flexible freedom to devote slices of player time without the grind and plus full blown guild wars have always been epic… looking forward to all that you can make happen!
Can this be executed on a mobile app with inbuilt wallet for game tokens? Of course I understand mobile apps would be a big overhead at the moment plus potential technical limitations.

While I’ve been following Freyala and I am excited for the project, I would like to pose two broad questions regarding this proposal –

  1. Why are you asking for a $250k investment category proposal? Have you considered a Launch proposal ($50k) and/or a Grant proposal ($50k-250k)?

  2. Assuming you continue with this as a $250k investment proposal, do you have a breakdown of how this will be spent and the timeline for such spending? A bit more detailed than “recruiting”.

Hopefully you can provide some more insight into your current thoughts re: the above.

Thanks!

We have considered multiple options.

There’s two good reasons why we’re not going for a launch. A launch only gets funding post-launch, which will not happen atleast this year. The funding we are searching for is primarily pre-launch, funding for development and marketing. The second reason being the limited amount. We’re nearing towards 22-24 sets of 3 (sometimes four) Harmons with 7 animations each (walk, run, attack, defend, death, idle, face animations) - if we would to outsource these, they would hit towards 2 - 3000 USD per set, setting us at $72000 for just the 3D models and its animations. Backgrounds, battlegrounds, menus, splash loading and developers wouldn’t even be able to be calculated in said funding.

The funding quantity is correct, the timeline however is unrealistic. There is no way we can launch in 8 weeks, neither do we have 10K active users at this point.

What we are looking for, is an investment of an external investor to help us reach our goals - as well as strengthen the network with a fully fledged dApp.

We currently have an average breakdown and timeline. We’re working on a full documentation of how everything is exactly going to work. The investment would be to continue paying the developers and artists currently on board as well as get extra helping hands. To provide a standard income for said commitment. Our main idea was to have a multisig wallet with the investor and continuously pitch our next expense. Bi-weekly let our investors know what and why we would need said expense and the timeline a result would be given.

Example:

  • Needing $10k expense fund for 3 sets of Harmons, 3D modelled - rigged - textured and animated. Expected result in 4 weeks.
  • Needing $15k expense fund for P2P game hosting, allowing players to host their own games and set their own rules for a specific game. Expected result in 4 - 6 weeks.

We are not looking for a big fat check on our account, we are looking for committed investors. Investors that we can turn to in times of financial need and in return deliver the promises made for said funding. A multisig wallet would, in my personal eyes, be the best option to set said investment. Maybe deliver a DAO set with governors between the staff of Freyala and members of the core team of Harmony. Give the people of Freyala the option to vote on to what to use the funds for.

But the exact specifics on how such an investment works, is up to the investors themselves ofcourse.

This looks like a great project. Really like the concept and can see that it would really add value to the Harmony ecosystem. It ties in quite nicely with Defi Kingdoms- which has already been a huge success. Can’t wait to see how the project develops!

Where could this project be 2-3 years down its development line? what do you hope to have established and achieved by then?

The main goal is to make 2022 the year we launch and increase our DAU. Extra Harmons, game modes and competitions will be the active drive afterwards.

After the launch we will be targeting active streamers to collaborate, streams like Yogscast xmas jingle jam collab would be an achievement we do aim to reach. We have a working twitch integration for our token and we want to implement it in the game, make everything as beginner friendly as possible with the game to convince gamers that crypto gaming isn’t all just money and buzz words.

Hi, im a huge supporter of Harmony and wanted to ask, where can i enter my vote for Freyala’s voting proposal? Every other project so far has one except this one for some reason. This looks like a promising project and would be ecstatic if they got a grant. Thanks!

This project is awesome! It will be the flagship game on the Harmony blockchain. Excited to raise my crypto piggy with Freyala!
