Ports: Scaleswap IDO Launchpad

That IDO has nothing to do with Harmony. I’m referring to this grant applicatee.

hello, can i see your github link? have you onboarded any projects?

Hey guys! There are some projects we referred to Harmony, and some are waiting for better market conditions for a launch. Very soon, we will present you with the full picture.

That’s not much of an update

Dear Harmony Family!
This has been a taff year for crypto so far. But during this year we have referred to Harmony and introduced your team to 7 startups: Tristan Metaverse, Eywa, The Power, iPlay, Capscoin, Metarun / GoFungibles, GPT Protocol, Hamsters.

Among them Eywa will be the first one to make IDO on Harmony chain on Scaleswap. This will be promoted loudly!

Metarun made IDO 2 months ago, and others had to postpone IDO due to market conditions.

All startups got extensive information from us about Harmony advantages and are ready to implement your blockchain into their products.

We are looking for bringing even more cool projects to Harmony soon!

Hey @dpagan-harmony !
I have just replied with some cool updates here Ports: Scaleswap IDO Launchpad - #66 by stolberg

It is highly concerning that many of your projects have twitter profiles with thousands of fake users. Their replies to various tweets are full of Bots. I follow much of the Harmony core team. However, one of your projects like Capscoin do not follow the Harmony core team or get zero follows from them either.

Now, does this matter? Well, having bots reply to various messages REEKS that some of your projects are hiring marketing agencies to run their twitter pages. Some of their websites are super low-effort websites. Basically, a lot look like complete and total rug-pulls of the highest order.

Hey @GeorgeofEmmaInterest ! Thank you for these critical comments. We definitely want our projects to improve and will check and come back with them. But could you pls be more specific? This statement is definitely not applicable to all our projects, especially not to potential unicorns like Eywa. And this statement is not confirmed by numbers and pieces of evidence. In addition, as you might know, literally every crypto project has here and there fake followers which does not mean that project bought bot users. But during events like airdrop, projects attract bounty hunters who leave with the time the project, and this does appear like fake followers.

For the next batch of IDOs, it wouldn’t hurt to double check with the community via Discord, Telegram, this Forum and/or the Harmony team.

@stolberg @GeorgeofEmmaInterest any suggestions on how we can better serve the community with a better gating mechanism of higher quality projects with a real following and solid momentum using quantitative metrics?

Hi @GeorgeofEmmaInterest and thanks for your comment! Let me bring my 5 cents regarding particular case you mentioned

  1. Capscoin: they didn’t follow Harmony core team from the beginning just simply because they missed this part, and they didn’t receive clear instructions from anyone to do it. But once we asked them to do this, they immediately followed. Founders are also not twitter savvy originally, they are tech guys who relied on their marketing team for social media activities. Now they are changing this.
I won’t comment quality of their marketing here, since as every startup, they made a lot of experiments, tested diff channels, activities and service providers, and of course made some mistakes in the process. And who does not?

  2. Yes, @Jacksteroo it would be great to specify a better gating mechanism, for sure! We’re doing Scaleswap community voting for pre-selected projects by our team, and community decides which one to accept or not. Here is an example for EYWA voting Snapshot (you need to connect metamask with $SCA to see it)
I don’t know if you have similar mechanics in Harmony, but it would be great to have something similar in parallel for projects that we refer to launch on Harmony chain.

And what is even more important: we need some more structured processes from Harmony side on projects onboarding. For example: when we applied for your grant, we received an amazing support from @nickv from Harmony. He explained us all the steps on a call, described Harmony advantages and application procedures, shared links, etc. Was extremely welcoming and supportive. Without him, it would be very complicated for us to understand what do we need to do to proceed!
Would be great to have something similar with the new projects that we’re bringing to your ecosystem: if someone can guide them through the processes. Maybe some community volunteers if your team is too busy?

Another missing link is a clear procedure for cross-marketing support. For example, case with EYWA, a cross-chain interoperability protocol that makes it possible for the blockchain networks to communicate with each other like if they are in one network. Very strong project that has potential to become a unicorn! They received the grant from Harmony. One a while ago, and we selected them for IDO on Scaleswap on Harmony. Also, they became our flagship project for the new Scaleswap product: ScaleALPHA, a fundamental change for the IDO market that eliminates the unfair gap between VCs and crypto whales and retail backers from crypto community. We introduced EYWA to your team at the beginning of May to agree for cross-marketing and collaboration, but it didn’t work for more than a month when team couldn’t get any clear feedback.
And I’m not criticising here (every protocol has these problems, believe me!), I just want to add some “meat” from particular cases in order to start the discussion on how we could make it better together.

Let’s brainstorm together and see if Harmony community can help to establish efficient processes and scale this up?

Btw, just a short idea a-la “thinking out loudly”:
We’ve strengthened our marketing and communication team recently. Maybe, let’s make an interview or a live youtube AMA with Harmony team about how to apply to Harmony. One grant and how to get into Harmony ecosystem for projects? At least, it can substitute some “human” support and become a handy “how to” guide for all new projects

I am of the opinion (and I posted this in the gov. proposal section) to do token swaps instead of grant funding for ports/launches. KYC for the team. Fully doxxed to the core team (like before) but with caveats including actual legal work including a Memorandum of understanding - Wikipedia so the counter-party could be legally liable for a rug. This should scare some projects away. Also, there would need to be some form of LLC (or at least a basic corporate structure) because a port means that there is something that is being built that has some traction and needs Harmony’s support in funding and co-marketing to be successfully integrated. You asked quant metrics; I cannot give you specifics beyond clear legal guidelines and documents that any non-crypto industry uses as a gating mechanism. This is just logical, common sense thinking. @frwrdslosh @nickv @papi I’ll add the other core team members to look into what I propose for a proper gating mechanism.

Hello:

Would you please update on which step are you?
Which Milestones have you concluded and what next steps?

Thank you
:blue_heart:

If I understand it right, this is more a proposal for general principles of Harmony projects gating, not that much about Scaleswap and our collaboration specifics. Therefore, it should be commented by Harmony team, right?
