Soulbound Studio: No-Code GUI for Subgraph Development

Name of Project

Soulbound Studio: No-Code GUI for Subgraph Development

Overview

Soulbound Studio is an online whiteboard for Web3 communities to come together to brainstorm, design, and build subgraphs. It’s a no-code GUI for subgraph development that’s accessible to both technical and non-technical Web3 contributors.

Subgraphs are magical tools and unlock completely new paradigms previously unavailable to developers. They are the primitive that empowers DAOs, protocols, and Web3 communities to define, compute, and access meaningful data from decentralized networks.

However, subgraphs come with a steep technical barrier to entry. To create and use a subgraph, you must first familiarize yourself with AssemblyScript, Graph CLI, GraphQL, Graph Nodes, subgraph config files, smart contract architecture, and The Graph protocol.

It’s enough friction to prevent novice developers and non-technical Web3 contributors from accessing the power of subgraphs and fully participating in The Graph ecosystem.

We decided a simpler solution could exist.

Soulbound Studio primary goals is to make subgraph development accessible to all of Web3, both technical and non-technical contributors.

Just this week, Harmony announced their hosted service integration with The Graph. Soulbound Studio will help ensure that the benefits of this integration can be accessed by the entire Harmony community.

The Harmony community can use Soulbound Studio to bootstrap a new subgraph to analyze their smart contracts event logs, recognize and quantify meaningful on-chain participation within Web3 communities, or just simply visualize the structure of their smart contracts.

We are currently in alpha right now, but plan to have a beta launch on July 15 that will be a self-serve platform for generalizable subgraph development.

Thank you for submitting a proposal to Harmony’s $300M Ecosystem Fund. We are in the process of reviewing your proposal and will assign a representative on behalf of the Grants Ops team.

We would also love :blue_heart: to have the Harmony community participate to ask questions and provide feedbacks.

If you have more details to add, please do so by replying to this thread.

I can’t assess the code but this looks impressive and like something that can be useful for DAOs (but not only for DAOs).

I wonder if and how recently deployed on-chain graph tooling affects this?

Thank you! We see quite Soulbound Studio offering quite a bit of value for DAOs with the creation of Reputation Subgraphs… standardized subgraphs designed to recognize and quantify meaningful on-chain accomplishments within Web3 communities.

Could you link me to the on-chain graph tooling announcement? Our team hasn’t heard about this new feature yet.

Here you go @Jordan_Soulbound

Ah gotcha!

So because The Graph now integrates with Harmony, folks in the Harmony community can write subgraphs for their smart contracts deployed to Harmony. You can read the TLDR of what The Graph & subgraphs are here: Introduction - The Graph Docs

Soulbound Studio is built on top of the Graph - we make subgraphs accessible to non-technical Web3 contributors or those who don’t want to bother with learning subgraph development. The Harmony team saw value in integrating with The Graph and we want to use this grant as an opportunity to strengthen and augment that integration.
