Fitfluencer DAO
Proposal overview
For the longest time, Harmony has been home to game-fi DEXes, attempts at making games which reward players for interacting with the dapp and acting in accordance to the rules which, for the average Joe, are still extremely cost prohibitive. A hero in DFK not only costs upwards of 300 dollars, but you can only have him (for the past 6 months or so) go on a quest where there is a random chance of him earning something worthwhile (often the case he doesnât).
A MarsColony plot of land is an up-front investment, similar to DFK heroes, which aims to pay itself off, given enough time, and farming on any of the DEXes on Harmony with the native token, ends up being risky as the emissions outweigh the buying pressure. Other than being ghastly cost-prohibitive, the discussion of these projects is mostly on third party websites such as Twitter, Reddit, or discord servers/telegram groups, and good and insightful posts are not rewarded as they should be, neither by outsiders nor by their internal communities (other than perhaps a tipping address, at the discretion of those who prefer to tip). Some crypto societies try to fix this (read.cash/noise.cash, some TRON and ICON sites/digg forks such as SteemIt/publish0x) by having a tipping mechanism, but they fall short for a variety of reasons - you can easily game the system in order to use it as an advertisement board for your product, and moderators on Reddit or these platforms can be âon the takeâ.
Furthermore, the silent pandemic that has been taking the world over the past 20 years, is one of obesity and lack of physical activity, and we believe that the ethos of Harmony is such that the aim is to change the world by on-boarding them to the Harmony platform and ecosystem, and instilling healthy habits and routines into the users.
Fitfluencer is a mobile app and social hub that attempts to reward users that participate in the ecosystem in two ways - one is by having a reputation-based social platform for micro-communities, akin to Twitter, creating a secure, ungameable environment that will allow for content curation on a per-user basis. Users will be able to opt-in to communities, where they can build their reputation; whether itâs predictions of price movements of Harmony tokens a la Coreto/FuzzBet, or by sharing their opinions on projects on Harmony. FIT tokens, which are out now, will be used to provide liquidity in the mobile-centric DEX, but also accrue passive stONE income for users, which can be liquid staked to certain community chests and eligible white-listed individuals, where the users are essentially banking on the popularity of these communities.
Also, a portion of the Fitfluencerâs native tokens are used to reward content creators, but also are burned every time someone uses the DEX price aggregation feature and initiates a trade from the iOS app UI, similar to 1inch.
The utility of the Fitfluencer app does not stop there, as there is yet another method for users to earn - which is to be active, physically, and being able to purchase fitness equipment, training services, supplementation and gym memberships in partner gyms, as we grow and on-board more users. By having Apple Health integration, any AH approved fitness tracker can allow users to unlock a portion of their vested tokens earlier, similar to how miners in DFK âmineâ locked jewel. In order to be able to do so, the user will need to have Fitfluencer NFTs redeemed, which can then be locked and staked in order for unlocking to happen.
Think of YikYak meets STEPNâs proof of activity, but for your crypto hubs, not anonymous, and can allow fitness influencers to verify their identities via a third party service (Proof of Humanity comes to mind as an option), and on-board their fans from Web2 onto Web3 in a fun and rewarding way.
Inevitably, the pivot to Web 3.0 will impact existing business models of Web 2.0 apps in the fitness sector. The maintenance costs of legacy databases and having customerâs data in a secure place is rising and alongside the privacy, scalability and environmental concerns.
The idea of having Fitfluencer on Harmony is to have a unified, on-chain social and commerce model that onboards and connects both fitness influencers (meaning, but not limited to: fitness trainers, online personalities, health and nutrition experts, partner gyms, and sports equipment manufacturers) and end-users that will be able to pay for these services and goods thanks to Harmony, and letting both parties accrue both tangible and intangible benefits for participating in the ecosystem.
Our app design is essentially finished, with some polishing needed, but weâre due to launch a beta in Q2 2022, and aim to integrate with 1wallet at a later date, once sufficient documentation is out.
