Hey,
Happy to see your thoughts @Kingler while it can be challenging to manage multiple DAOs, that’s the whole point & the beauty of building a truly decentralized community. I hate to break it down to you; not everyone from India knows Hindi as it is only one of the 22 officially scheduled languages in the constitution.
And I would like to highlight that this proposed DAO lacks one of the significant regional mandates for DAO: Diversity.
While I understand that it’s a DAO after all, but it won’t make any sense if the DAO is vague and undiluted, consisting of only a tight-knit community from specific regions. These early birds will only become a part of the DAO, get all the opportunities, & become governors eventually.
So it’s essential to solve this problem at the roots by having more representation and diversity. It will also be easier to achieve all the deliverables & work collaboratively if the community has more diverse people.
While you said anyone could create a DAO easily; the Harmony community funds are not perpetual. Where do you think they will be redirected to if a new entrant proposes to create a regional DAO, for instance, the Haryanvi region or West Bengal region? They will be asked to collaborate with the India DAO only(I have observed that this is the case of many DAOs in the forum when they would like to create a DAO for their region). But it’s already too late, and there’s no way that the people will be able to participate fairly & they would lose interest and give up.
I meant no offense, but I am highlighting a significant problem in the DAO structure. In this current structure, the early bird gets to take it all. The late comer doesn’t have an opportunity or will be denied any opportunity as they will try to help only their friends or people who took part early. Who would like to be a part of a non-inclusive community after all?
A beautiful example is this very own thread where I see new accounts being created & engaging in this thread. Well, I could bring my friends or even create multiple new accounts and have people support my points. Steps like these might misrepresent the Harmony community into thinking that the entire Indian community supports the entire proposal. But that’s far from reality.
@Banarasi I would like to thank you for making my job more effortless in the same Wikipedia article you have shared, you can see the percentage of people who can understand English in India which is only 10.6%. So be mindful of what you are commenting as I am just trying to represent the facts & actual data & not trying to create a wedge by using linguistics.
Yes, you are correct, and it’s essential to have proper communication with multiple languages & different sets of people to represent one of the largest functioning democracy.
And companies like Google, Facebook, and other FinTech players like Paytm, PhonePe understand this correctly and provide multiple language options to use on their platforms as they understand the importance of diversity. And you also forgot that all those courses you mentioned like Engineering, Medicine, Law, etc. are also available in the regional languages.
So in order for the larger population to adopt the blockchain & Harmony it is vital to communicate & have representation from different regions & languages to help in the daily race to onboard 10 Mn users and help them in creating wealth using Harmony.
So I ideally envision the Harmony India DAO to represent the Indian community with diversity, and I feel like only regional DAOs can currently solve this problem unless you guys have a better idea?
And there’s still no response from Priyank Gupta & team about the elections as well.
What is the plan after 3 months?
