THE WHY

One of the most important parts of decentralization is maintaining a peer-to-peer format that can disrupt a web 2 non-peer-to-peer infrastructure. The leading cultural advantage of web 3 from an artist’s perspective (specifically in the world of non-fungible tokens) is the disruption of distribution channels as we know them.

Technology and the blockchain has created the opportunity for such disruption. Catalyst will be the world’s first Hollywood feature film to ever premiere in the metaverse. Not only will this create massive cultural disruption it is also a historic moment never seen since the beginning of moviemaking.

Profits from the distribution of cinema have always favored the studio system and never have favored the independents. The Catalyst premiere will favor not only independent filmmakers but the web three community as a whole.

HOW (BULLET POINTS)

The entire feature film will be minted as a 1/1 NFT that includes a motion poster as a marketplace holder attached to an encrypted and private IPFS that will be solely controlled by the DAO. The Investment of 1000E will allow the acquisition of the 1/1 by the DAO for 650E

650E will go to the film’s investors and producers distributed on a pro-rata basis per pre-existing real-world term sheets for the acquisition of the 1/1 NFT

350E will remain in the DAO liquidity pool to hire (but not limited) project managers, event producers, developers, smart contracts, landing pages, NFT ticket collection, drop mechanics, discords, social media strategy, metaverse marketing, web2 & web3 PR, A list DJ, and necessary production staff to stage the largest Film Premiere to ever hit the metaverse and it’s wrap up.

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

The DAO will only control the NFT for exploitation rights in the metaverse. The DAO will not own or control any intellectual property of the film. Web2 distribution rights (domestic / intl) will remain the full ownership of Chris Folkens Films LLC. The DAO will control any aspects of the metaverse rights including profit shares on merchandise, wearables, NFTS, primary and secondary sales from fractionalization. As well as the right to extract stills and mint collectibles from the film to drive community and revenue.

DETAILS

By creating a DAO and minting the entire film as a one-of-one NFT with a locked IPFS that is solely controlled by the DAO, we can build a metaverse film premiere that will showcase the film during a designated time window and create a premiere experience with carnival-like scale.

The vision is to build one of the largest metaverse events ever produced in conjunction with an aggressive web2 and web3 PR campaign. We’ll enlist the smartest event producers and publicists in the ecosystem to create a web 2 campaign with placements in Rolling Stone, Variety, and the Hollywood Reporter announcing the first feature film in the metaverse that was sold for over $2 million USD.

The premiere will be preceded by a robust discord and community-driven marketing campaign to announce 1000 virtual NFT 3D tickets that will be given away via raffle for gas only. Those NFT tickets will give holders a higher tier of access to the premiere as well as access to cast and crew and digital airdrops. The premiere itself will be open and available to any attendees for free where they will be able to mint a proof of attendance protocol (POAP).

Leading up to the premiere, we will tease across social media channels the fractionalization of the one-of-one NFT of the feature film. In preparation for such, we will create a landing page that will be ready to be used on the day of the premiere. Once the movie finishes playing we will open the landing page to mint with a supply of 10000 shares at approximately .065 Ether per share. This will drive in an approximate 650 Ether. Based on the value of Ether at $3,000, this project would gross approximately 1.95 million U.S. dollars. NFT ticket holders will be granted first priority access to own a part of the one of one.

50% of that liquid will then be allocated to Exertion3, an independent production venture that will begin production on four episodes of newly scripted high concept short-form content. While this content is being produced, we will concurrently produce a genesis NFT drop for Exertion3. This will be a collection of 10,000 1 of 1 generative NFT’s that will be sold at approximately 0.15 Ether and will generate a total of 1500 Ether. Based on the value of Ether at $3,500, this will gross approximately $5.25M U.S. dollars.

Immediate tasks to consider (not limited to) once the liquid is fed to Exertion3 are the following:

REAL-WORLD WEB2 DISTRIBUTION

Never in cinema history have metaversal rights been a category. In this model for the first time in Hollywood, we will release a major feature film in the metaverse. The amount of press the film will receive off the web3 acquisition will engage web2 distributors like Amazon Prime, HBO Max, Netflix, HULU etc. We stand to continue negotiating the rights and sale of the film to web2 distribution in North America and Internationally.

The picture could carry up to a $1-3M price tag off the back of a massive web2 and web3 campaign and sell internationally for a near similar amount. 20% of those proceeds will go back to the DAO to maintain the liquidity and begin paying the DAO back.

GENESIS NFT COLLECTION

Prior to the release of the genesis NFT collection, the first four episodes will already be shot and be well through post-production so leading up to the release of the genesis NFT there will have been trailers, teasers, production stills, and key art circulating in the discord and community socials. We will honor premier NFT ticket holders whitelist access for the Exertion3 genesis NFT.

When we reach post-production on the episodes the streaming site must be built and tested, proving it is robust and ready for the release of the genesis NFT. Once the collection sells out, we will be ready to release the first episode within seven business days. Each episode will partition into 400 moments. Each of these moments will be a one of one NFT with metadata attached to it that will indicate which timecode the owner holds as well as the video asset to which the NFT can connect to.

We anticipate offering each moment for .15E for a gross of 60E per episode or approximately $210,000. We will only spend $80,000 per episode from pre-production to delivery. With a total run time of 10 minutes per episode, 400 moments will equal 36 frames per moment or 1.5 seconds of video time per moment holder.

As a reward to early adopters, we will raffle the first 3 episodes’ moments in their entirety to genesis pass holders. We will establish the governance of the genesis NFTS which commands a first-place position to mint a moment of future episodes for a 24-hour window before the public sale (if any).

EARN TO WATCH TECHNOLOGY

Upon release of the third episode, we will integrate the pay-to-watch model. The concept will be introduced to the community early on, but will not be executed until the release of the third episode. We will hold a first-time ever sale of the moments of the fourth episode (and all episodes moving forward) once the community is clear on the value of the moments and what they mean to the ecosystem.

The goal is to create fear of missing out and increase the floor value of the moment NFTS. The launching of this technology will require robust publicity and a community social push to announce the launch in all trades on web2 and web3. This publicity rollout will be in partnership with the host blockchain and any brand integrations.

THE CONTENT GAP

There is a massive gap in web3 for streaming content. Deadline reported in March 2022 that 72% of Americans stream their content. Whereas over 210 million people streamed YouTube last year. There are no viable options in web3 currently for streaming high-quality content. We have a massive gap in the space that needs filling with sophisticated content that speaks to web3 culture.

EQUITY GOALS

Exertion3 will build a new platform for sophisticated cinematic episodic content that will appeal to the 18–35-year-old demographic that is web3. Think Black Mirror meets Mr. Robot. In the first year, we will roll out twenty episodes of the first season for a total of over 200 minutes of original content.

Twenty episodes will create 8000 NFT episode moments at .15E per moment that will gross 1200E or approximately $4.2M gross in moment NFT sales alone in primary markets. This is not inclusive of the pay-to-watch model per view of each episode.

IN REAL LIFE INCUBATOR

Exertion3 will have a physical space for web3 creativity. We will occupy a minimum of 5,000 square feet complete with a render farm, blender stations, cinema cameras, and editorial bays to produce a workflow of constant web3 content. Panels and think tanks will be a regular occurrence as well as educational seminars.

PHILANTHROPY

We will donate 8% of all revenue to educate BIPOC teens on the values of blockchain technology and how to become NFT fluent with virtual and real-life experiences to help uplift the coming generations of thinkers. Our chosen Crypto friendly partner is the New Earth Foundation based in Los Angeles.

WEB3 NIGHTLIFE

Every 8 weeks Exertion3 will earmark $15,000 to the brightest up-and-coming architectural students to create a new physical space. Every 4 weeks we will host a web3 networking event that will be designated and curated for the web3 community of artists, builders, evangelists, and enthusiasts.

BY YEAR TWO

ORIGINAL CONTENT

Exertion3 anticipates by year two to have released a second season of the flagship series while launching two more new episodic shows. The flagship of year two will be the first feature film created and produced by Exertion3 owned by the community.

Two stand-alone socially conscious Spinema (spoken word) films will be released via the platform to raise awareness of social issues while raising money for philanthropic ventures. These projects will be minted as NFTS and will star the leaders in the poetic talent space not just David Bianchi.

ARTIST MANAGEMENT

The long-term road map will eventually create a department within Exertion3 to represent and manage artists’ careers. NFT artists, directors, and actors for brand partnerships and bookings in web2 television and film.

CONTENT ACQUISITION

Exertion3 will explore partnerships with other production houses to acquire a third-party intellectual property series for release.

MAJOR BRAND PARTNERSHIPS

Exertion3 will work to procure relationships with the likes of Arri and RED Cameras, the Adobe Creative Cloud, Blender, and other paintbrush companies of the trade.

We will continue to bridge gaps with web2 brands that will partner with the company to enter web3 in an honest and organic manner.

Unfortunately, the current funding request is out-of-scope. The Harmony DAO Ops team has decided to decline this proposal.

We have found over the past year of DAO operations that the organizations that don’t start with a large, dedicated community and a goal to fund themselves tend to have very low success rates. They tend to have a hard time recruiting additional community support and tend to bring limited value to the overall Harmony ecosystem.

The bar to receive a DAO bootstrap grant is now higher than it has been historically. In order to receive a bootstrap grant going forward, DAOs will need to evidence a high level of transparent reporting, robust community involvement and a business plan that reflects a commitment to self-funding. Further guidelines are being finalized and should be released in the coming week.

I apologize that this process has been lengthy and drawn-out and I appreciate yours and the DAO’s patience. Harmony and the DAO Ops team wanted to exhaust every option before responding with a declination.
