I would also support investigating the use of technology to assist in this endeavor. I’m not sure if current technology is satisfactory to capture the nuance and details of advanced technical writing, but perhaps it could be used as a “rough draft” that the translators can edit, instead of translating from scratch.
Must it be @HarmonyCommunityDAO to set the pace of elections to 100 DAOs?
@stse @lij @Sam wen #Election DAO & #Basic DAO
The issue from OP OG should remain the focus, we shall discuss more Next All DAO call Can we get a schedule of that here in this post, maybe include here
Would also be amazing if we can add translation support above for regional communities and meetups within the site.
I believe this is a feasible option. Since it would give the problem a proper addressing , instead of adding another role and possibly overburden one DAO. ONE community is growing at an alarming rate. It’s good go course, but it’s being embraced by many foreign language/communities and most of those individuals don’t speak English or don’t understand quite well.
That’s a great idea right here. I do particularly agree on creating social media accounts on different languages/nations, that’d be a doable operation and it would clearly increase Harmony’s visibility across worldwide. As a non-native English speaker, I am well aware of the languistic barriers put between those who are very fluent in English and those who are actually not interested in looking in new cultures. There’s a say that reads “it takes all sorts to make a world” and I think we can get closer to those people by translating some useful content.
I completely agree! Harmony One has users all across the globe and we need translators with various backgrounds to show everyone what Harmony One has to offer, with app likes google translate we can help to a certain extent. But to have a DAO with the mission of user onboarding in multiple countries in different communities we can really start building bridges throughout the entire world. Love it and would absolutely love to be a part of it as well as I have strong ties to India, South Africa, Mexico and El Salvador! Looking forward to seeing this DAO doing great things if created!
It doesn’t natural, yet.
i won’t support that as a variety of approved regional daos will coordinate that
we have already chosen more vast approach - regional DAOs that will coordinate all the regional initiatives
check harmony.one/funding - everything is there
not 100% agree on that as all daos are individually independent and in case of content we have at least 2 types:
- mandatory to translate (the set of articles/posts assigned by the team - open.harmony.one);
- content is requested by the local communities (locals daos manage to translate specifically what community asks) - this type of content will be simply identified by those who are on the front line of a local community - governors and they’re the best to distribute that
I love this Pac, I completely agree.
Yeah, I completely agree, We cant google translate an Infographic or a Video. We need people working on this from a base level, and also handing over multiple translations of specific materials to creators to make multiple copies also as discussed yesterday.
We can’t rely on translation tools just at the moment unless we’re happy with content going out with sentences that aren’t grammatically correct with other mistakes which would look incredible unprofessional
I do agree with you to an extent, however, this way, DAOs are only as good as themselves, and are not as powerful of the whole ecosystem of DAOs that Harmony has and will have.
This is what I’m getting at, we are stronger together united trying to achieve the same goals.
for sure
what I mean here is that we should cooperate as all of us are community daos first, but we should not intersect our areas of responsibility to avoid overlaps as we’re so short of max 10 hours a week
if there’s a request for translated content in the cdao - you should not think how to resolve that query but simply can redirect to the right regional (local) channel
it’s like, if there going to be a lot of questions about staking we are likely to contact to an authority from the validator dao and ask them to provide the support or outreach for a potential validator instead of leading him through the whole validators docs on how to set up a node and maintain it
I’m really surprised that we still don’t have a joint chat for all governors (w/o any exceptions) where they can cooperate
ps: why don’t have one for all governors? (discord/telegram - doesn’t really matter)
I believe it would be easier to have one organization to handle all translations, and for them to know who the information would be relevant for and disperse this information to everyone it would be useful to.
There will be information that’s relevant to all regions, and if this was the case, governors would have to send that information to all regional DAOs rather than just one place which would take valuable time.
We have to remember that the regional DAOs are going to face their own communication issues, and those communication issues will affect the reach and effectiveness of information along with facing delays.
Honestly, I haven’t looked into the regional DAOs so much as it’s still early but I understand there has been lots of progress recently but regardless it would make sense to make any governor solely responsible for communication and translation.
Example with a Translation and communication DAO, A Dao Governor makes a useful document that is relevant to the Harmony community worldwide. The governor sends the document to the Translation DAO. The translation DAO hands the document to all translators and once completed the document gets dispersed in a multitude of languages to all the regional DAOs and any other DAO that operates using that specific language.
Example 1 has one governor making one form of communication by sending the document, does not have to handle translators and does not have to handle rewarding them translators personally, he or she also knows that the document will be translated correctly, that document will then be handed to every organization with each specific language we cover.
Example 2 with the Regional DAOs, A Dao Governor created a useful document that is relevant to the Harmony Community worldwide, He could send it to his own regional DAO to be passed to all other regional DAOs, for each regional DAO to translate the document for it to be dispersed.
Example 2 has one governor reach out to a regional DAO which in turn has to send that document to every other regional DAO and make 10-15 forms of communication to 10-15 governors, who in turn have to speak to 10-15 translators to get the document ready for release.
The process above accounts for 1 document, so we have to take into account what will happen when each DAO is producing 20-30 documents a month. Would the regional Dao’s sole job be handling translations and sending information to multiple DAOs which is increasing every day (Possibly 100 eventually), or will they have events to run and information to share themselves and everything else which will also get busier by the day?
I do understand your points, but it makes no sense not to have this in my eyes, you want people to work on what they are elected for, to increase efficiency, improve communication, to roll out that information quicker so that it’s still relevant when it’s received by the community member.
Agree 100% with you.
