Africa DAO Governor Candidate: Yvonne Kagondu

Organizations that are keen on establishing a strong presence in their audience and meeting key milestones in a timely fashion, such as the Africa DAO, require committed, time-conscious, flexible, engaged, motivated, and ethical individuals working with them. This is why I formally tabling my manifesto for the governor position for the Harmony Africa DAO as I believe that I meet the criteria for the position, and that my skills will be of immense benefit to the DAO.

A quick introduction to who I am

I am Yvonne Wanjiru, a polite, humorous, kind, jovial, and social woman in my mid-20s currently living in Nairobi, Kenya. I am also a mother of one, my beautiful daughter, Alicia, who means the world to me. In my free time, I enjoy swimming, hiking, making new friends, and dancing.

I have a bachelor’s degree in Financial Economics as well as a certificate in Software Development. Over time, I have developed a strong interest in blockchain technology, and I have been using the skills and knowledge I have acquired from my education as well as my work experience to develop a strong understanding of the African Crypto landscape.

What makes me a suitable governorship candidate with expertise in community management?

So far, I have been in the blockchain space for 4 years, of which I have served as a community manager for various communities and organizations. For instance, I have worked as a community manager for Kubitx Exchange from October 2018 to January 2020. I managed the BitcoinKE Crypto Community in the year 2020. Also, I, together with my team, managed and grew the largest crypto community in Kenya Paxful Kenya Community from 2000 members to 10000 members as the Kenya Community Coordinator from February 2020 to February 2021.

My work experience has helped me realize the critical role Community Management plays when it comes to handling and managing communications between an organization and its audience. I am well aware that, as a community manager, I will be required to act as the face, tone, voice, and moderator of the Harmony Africa DAO brand to help establish a strong presence in the DAO community, and develop trust among the audience, both in-person as well as online. This is a responsibility I am well-versed in, and I am confident I will meet and exceed set expectations. My career track record speaks for itself and confirms this.

My commitment to the DAO

Aside from possessing the relevant skills and knowledge needed for the open position, I also have a keen interest in the Harmony DAO, considering I have always been an active member of the DAO since they first set foot in Kenya, where they hosted a meetup on December 4th, 2021. I have so far attended and participated in 4 of the 6 meetups that have been held in Kenya since the Harmony launch, and I believe I have developed a keen understanding of the dynamics of the DAO. I have also worked alongside the previous governor, George Maina, an opportunity that helped me catch a glimpse of what it takes to be a competent governor. I would also like to mention that I am the pioneer and owner of the Kenya Blockchain Ladies DAO, an initiative that seeks to make training more accessible to women, thus facilitating the increased involvement of women in the blockchain industry.

Therefore, aside from possessing the needed qualities, I also have a profound interest in the DAO, making me an ideal candidate for the open position as I can confidently rely on my experience with the DAO to effectively address the community, partners, as well as the funders. I will also strive to create professional, productive relationships both externally and internally to be a more reliable and authentic brand ambassador of the DAO.
Granted the opportunity, I will do my best to ensure important milestones are set and achieved, and help the DAO reach its full potential. I also look forward to developing and implementing effective measures that will help make the working conditions more conducive for all the parties involved, while promoting teamwork.
Grant me this opportunity to sever you, I guarantee you will not be disappointed.

Congratulations for stepping forward, its not easy.
We made this correction in the discord AMA between the community manager role which only requires a CV submission & actually contesting as governorship candidate in an election.

Do well to note the difference as the DAO is in dire need of governors who truly understand & comprehend the meaning & workings of a DAO as well as their role as governors which are primarily to execute community agreed decisions & prudently manage the DAO treasury.
