Benevolent Moon Squares and Other Charity Generating, Community Galvanizing, Fun Crypto Games

Application type-Product Launch/ Grant
Proposal overview
BMG&F is a team of creators with common values that has galvanized from across the globe to bring the greater community innovative products that are mission-driven and community-centric in a decentralized, permissionless, trustless, smart contract catalyzed manner.

Early in the development process, the founders identified the pillars of our organizational mission. As a team, we have an unwavering fortress of conviction that all of our contributions to the blockchain space clearly manifest these values:

Fun and engaging support of decentralised games and financial instruments.

Global Community Focused on Community-galvanizing and ultimate community governance (DAO)

Benevolent/ Service-Oriented Vision that all of our offerings have a charitable component.

Palpable Financial, Charitable, and Social Benefits of all gaming and financial products.

From an initial idea for a game called Benevolent Moon Squares, we have innovated and iterated a number of layers that reflect our values and scale to appeal to an increasingly larger user population.
Benevolent Moon Squares

The seminal game concept was born from a synthesis of a sports party game with the cryptoworld’s passion for prognosticating a favorite token’s moon price. One cannot be on CT without a passionate saturation of crypto enthusiasts making their best educated, optimistic (sometimes pessimistic) prediction of when a coin will hit a price.

In the game, users will select a time slot when they believe a token will hit the predetermined “Moon Price”. Upon making this selection, the user will pay the entry to purchase that time slot, and also choose from a provided list of benevolent causes to receive a charitable donation if the user wins the Benevolent Moon Square for that cycle. The entry fee is then smart-contracted for a portion to the winner fund, the benevolent cause fund, and a small percentage to the developers. When the token hits the moon price, the winner gets the “pot” and the donation is generated. The winner will also receive a letter denoting the charitable contribution that can be used to write off that portion of the winnings, or (since it will be an NFT), to use at his/her discretion if the tax credit is not applicable. This NFT does hold the value of the amount for some people for whom the write off would be applicable.

Additional Components in Development
Beyond this initial layer, an NFT lottery will take place upon each Moon Price being reached wherein all who entered that token’s game for the cycle will be eligible in a VRF selected drawing. The intention is to showcase up and coming artists in a showcase gallery, and ultimately offering a trading platform for NFTs. In such a condition, a percentage of all transactions would again go to benevolent organizations with whom we have developed partnerships.
Various iterations of the Moon Squares game are already in development, in addition to a Lunar Sports fantasy sports game, and plans for a $BMS governance token for the imminent initiation of a DAO. The token will also ultimately be used in all aforementioned activities, a daily closing price prediction game, and a lending, borrowing, and yield farming layer that are in discussion and development.
The core values of the team, to create fun, benevolent, community-galvanizing experiences that provide opportunities to grow financially are requisitely manifest in all the above layers. We endeavor to continue to see opportunities to create positive experiences for an increasing population of users.
We already have begun exploring the process for developing a DAO to further engage the community with elements such as determining the various benchmark prices, selection of benevolent causes, and identification of future opportunities to meet our meaningful mission.
We understand and embrace the challenge of making the game fun, exciting, easy, and user-friendly, yet nuanced and scalable to appeal to both the new-user and the advanced crypto native. Our research has affirmed that we can expect this project to appeal to a wide-usership as we pursue these objectives in creation and development.
Finally, we seek partnership with Harmony as the $ONE community has been such a positive, supportive, and fun group to engage as crypto enthusiasts. It is a natural fit for this project, and we know the Harmony community will love the games, benevolence, and community components of it. Further, we believe that this project will also bring many new users to Harmony as the appeal of both the game (starting with opportunities with 8 popular tokens, including $ONE), and the benevolent philosophy will generate interest and attraction. Further, our team is global, and will act individually as conduits to build follower and usership for the project, and Harmony Protocol.

Proposal ask $50,000

Currently, our team is working purely out of a passionate conviction for our mission and love for the creation process and working together. Further, we have yet to invest in hosting and other requisite elements for building a strong infrastructure. This grant essentially affords the gifts of time and action to bootstrap this process for quicker deployment and launch of additional features.

Metrics for success- Mainnet Launch by January 1, 2022 (if not sooner)

@BMGandF thank you for submitting this proposal. We encourage projects that have a proof of concept worked out prior to the application for this grant. This project seems like it’s still in its ideation phase, and we haven’t seen any signs of a community, nor Harmony community engagement in this thread.

For those reasons, we won’t be able to approve your proposal for the grant. We look forward to hearing back from you in at least 3 months from now, with a slightly more polished game dynamics and implementation. Thank you.

Thanks so much for the feedback. We understand this was an ambitious submission and were seeking guidance. We will resubmit when we are more polished as recommended.
