Community DAO Council Q1 2022 Candidate: Alyson aka Al Pal Crypto Gal

Hello Harmony Friends,

I’m Alyson (aka: Al Pal Crypto Gal on Twitter @alpal2202) and I am announcing my candidacy for the Q1 2022 Community DAO! I have been a part of the cryptocurrency community for about 9 months now and started buying and staking ONE from the start. I have met some really amazing people in the ONE community and have found that this space is always helpful and friendly; which is great because I’m still learning all of the time!

I would like to have more discussions about the importance of taking care of your mental health in the crypto-world. I love discussions and engagement from the community as I think together we do our best work and are the most helpful! There are a lot of amazing things that happen within the crypto-world and also some really challenging and frustrating things as well. I would like to have discussions, provide education and normalize that it’s okay to not be okay all of the time.

A little bit about myself, I am currently working as a crisis psychotherapist. I go with police on 911 calls to help people with mental health crises. I have a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Social Work and I’m a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker. I also have a cat that you may have spotted on my Twitter page, he’s adorable but naughty!

I would love the opportunity to work more with members of the community and learn more from all of you as well as hopefully be helpful in return!

Thanks for your consideration! -Alyson

Thank you for submitting your candidacy Alyson, we at @HarmonyCommunityDAO will form a channel for communication following the field closing, feel free to begin campaigning through Reddit, Twitter, Instagram or any media channels you wish to use, please remain visible during this week to allow for a smooth campaign.

Hello! Below are my answers from the AMA, if you have any other comments, questions or concerns for me please let me know!

If you think I might be a good fit as a governor, feel free to vote for me now as voting is open!

The Community DAO mandates are as follows:

Growth: to onboard users on missions and culture and to pollinate values across communities

Engagement: to amplify content of roadmap and milestones with creative campaigns of products

Diversity: to solicit voices and votes in forums and reinforce strong governance participation.

1. Is there any one of these mandates that you feel most passionate about and what are your strengths and skills that you feel could be useful in achieving it?

I think that they are all important mandates and each one builds off of the others. Engaging easily and building rapport with others is one of my strengths. My job as a therapist is all about active listening. As a therapist I never assume that I know best or have all of the answers; because I don’t. I feel the same way about the governor position, I don’t know it all but I’m good at engaging with others and listening. I believe that in a community setting it is important to collectively work together by listening and taking all ideas into consideration.

2. What does being part of a DAO mean to you and what do you envision the responsibilities of being a CDAO governor to be?

This is something new for me and I’m excited to learn more about what it would all entail. I look at it as an important position and something that I put time and effort to get the best possible outcome. Engaging with the community, providing opportunities to grow the Harmony community and sharing education and and information about all of the amazing things Harmony is doing and has done are things that the CDAO has done well!

3. Are there any specific ideas you have that you wish to explore if you are elected to serve the remainder of this term, keeping the mandates in mind?

Regarding engagement of the community, I have been finding that a discussion regarding mental health is something that some people are interested in. It’s not always an easy topic to talk about. If the community is interested, I would love to look into how we can best support each other and take care of ourselves within the Harmony community. Regarding diversity, I would like to see more females in the space. There are so many creative and talented females in the crypto community it would be great to bring more to the welcoming community that is so perfectly called Harmony. :slightly_smiling_face:
