Hello all! My name is PiStake and I am here to announce my candidacy for Term 4 – Q2 2022 of the Validator DAO.
PiStake is an independent validator node that has been elected since Dec 2021! The name originated from validating with a Raspberry Pi 4. I have been a ONE hodler only since Jun 2021; in that time, I have seen the room for growth that we have with proof-of-stake being a strong indicator for crypto’s future consensus. Towards the end of 2021 I decided to become a validator with the help of the Harmoforce group and I am still a member. Becoming a network validator has peaked my interest in helping and promoting the growth of the network as its value and use is apparent to me – and likely to all of you too!
- Decentralization: bootstrap thousands of elected validators, grow diverse validator profiles
a. Being part of the Harmoforce group (my start at being a validator) we are a collective that stake our ONE on unelected nodes and help push them into election. Boosting them into the lower bound gives a high reward and attracts other users to stake, thereby stabilizing the validator node.
b. I have assisted numerous other validator nodes and users on Reddit about validator requirements, specific set up and other troubleshooting.
c. I also encourage validators and users from social media (mostly Reddit) to join the Harmoforce group and continue staking on the unelected nodes so we may continue growing the network. - Security: support high staking rate, promote security practices and tooling
a. Node operators, no matter how experienced all need help from another, this is not a ‘go it alone’ task. I have and will continue to troubleshoot with validators on issues they may be having in keeping node uptime. If I do not know the answer – I will certainly point you in the right direction or get you in contact who may be of more help! - Participation: facilitate protocol upgrade proposals, recruit votes for improvements
a. I have been active within the Talk forums – mostly advocating for mechanisms to alter the way key bidding with high stake may be implemented. This is to keep the lower bounds mostly free of very large validators and allow the smaller ones to become stable. An idea proposed by @CryptoTech
b. My latest participation can be found here regarding quadratic voting with VDAO tokens. We have seen that a massive stake from Binance can impede HIP voting, this is something that needs to be addressed.
c. Remaining active within Talk forums, Reddit and Telegram to facilitate user engagement and offer assistance where possible.
Lastly, more about me – I am not some robot that is behind the scenes keeping a node up an running, an IT specialist or a data center admin. By education I am a Pharmacist and my natural place is within the community. Most importantly keeping people safe and offering resources for individuals to make educated decisions for themselves. This also stems into any project I become part of. Nobody has the answers to everything which is why I will offer you the most important service that I can – being a Liaison of information and other community members.
I appreciate your time and support,
PiStake
