Background:

There has been a great demand from the community for a landing page, where all members in the Harmony community (especially new members) can use in order to navigate the ecosystem. Currently, nothing of that nature exists which meets these requirements and many users are unaware of what Harmony offers or how to find basic yet essential information.

Information on different topics can be found, however, this requires some searching from various sources and does not always provide the users with the necessary information to safely utilize the blockchain and take advantage of all it offers.

Intent:

In order to create an effective landing page, this will require cross-DAO collaboration. An initial working group consisting of members from various Harmony core DAOs including the @HarmonyCommunityDAO @harmony_dev_dao @HarmonyCreativeDAO and @HarmonyValidatorDAO. Also, other DAO’s are also welcome to join to work in collaboration with the existing DAO working groups. Our next meeting will be on Thursday, 24th of February, 8pm UTC. The Meeting will take place in the Harmony Community DAO Discord Server, in the Community Stage channel and can be found on the following link: Harmony Community DAO

Specific Requirements for Landing Page content

As the intent is to provide the Harmony community with a single location in which they can find information to help them securely interact with the blockchain, understand how to use it’s various utilities, and to have access to various other fields of information regarding their user experience, there will be many pieces of information that will need to be available and to be kept up to date. This information needs to be current and relevant as the blockchain matures and changes.

Some important info at a minimum (and certainly not an inclusive list) would be as follows:

  • DAO specific pages such as Validator DAO. This template can be easily used for a new DAO and each DAO would have its own page to maintain and share information.
  • Guides, this section should cover guides requested by the community such as how to stake, how to set up wallets and how to transfer Harmony from an exchange to name just a few. Ideally these will be created directly by contributors and rewarded accordingly.
  • DAO’s in general, everything about DAO’s tools, funding guidelines, templates and how to participate in a DAO etc.
  • Ecosystem information as a whole, current infographics and maybe even a link to Harmony Universe
  • Social Media Links for various sources of useful social accounts associated with the ecosystem

Items to Discuss

  • Funding from Harmony but also how can we secure funding in the future.
  • Landing page format / Front End Design.
  • Landing page will include all information needed to ensure the page is a trustworthy one stop shop for the community regardless if the information can be found elsewhere.
  • Main Admin for future to make sure it’s up to date and maintain website settings
  • How to include Harmony culture and values into the landing pages

$25,000 (with the possibility of further funding in the future)

I read your proposal several times, but never understood why create a separate landing, if this forum already contains all the necessary information?

Another information resource can only further confuse users who do not always cope with search and navigation imho

Hey Andrew,
thanks for your Feedback. Sure all Information is here around in the forum, on doc.harmony.one on open.harmony.one and on several subpages like all those medium articles around. We want to build a one stop solution even if it’s just linking to that information. As an example how to join a DAO or who are the governors is all around here in several subtopics so you need to search and click trough.
Or just very quick if you wanna onboard your regional DAO how about something like this wich brings you direct to your target?

Landing page for all DAO’s is something I think we are all very interested in.

First question would be how is the $25K going to be allocated.

It would be cool to create a telegram bot for such goal!

Something like chatbot.

Following Bounties would be needed for final set up the Landing Page:

  • Front End Design
  • Website Set up (Domain Name Service & subdomains)
  • Guides section

May for Guides section we could make a use case of coordinape?

Ive checked what you guys have so far. This definitely needs attention to help new harmonauts enter the space.

My only question is, “what DAO does the Landing Page belong too? Where do you guys plan to send the funding if you were to recieve it?”

Thanks Ben. Can you also expand how the funding request was calculated and how it is planned to be spent? have you already received a quote from any developers to justify the request and any timeframe to deliver this?

The main administrator so far is the Community DAO, but we can create a subpage for all DAOs and these DAOs can be responsible for it themselves, like the Validator DAO or the Creative DAO has already done a very good job with their page.
This needs to be discussed further, we could even set up a special multi-sig with several Gov’s from the participating DAOs.

Please give me some time to discuss here with the community what all is needed and hopefully I can find some helping hands in the community for these bounties. And after a discussion we can define cost, timeframe and even metrics in more detail

I think this is a terrific idea.
This is an example of what I found a while back on the Cardano ecosystem: Cardano Ecosystem Map (Interactive) - CardanoCube.io
It helped me see just how much there is on the chain, and led me to high-quality projects.

I’d love to have the same kind of “map” for Harmony, rather than having to rely on spending so much time reviewing social media, Reddit boards, etc., just to find good projects.

This would would be more like an starting page to onboard you and show you this link, or guides for use staking/DeFi or you can go to a DAO subpage and check how to onboard, start to build dApps or run a Validator.

Hey! We had an amazing meeting today and had some discussion over this. I know Ben mentioned some aspects of what the funding will be used for. In our discussion today we talked about having the Community DAO create a separate Multisig Wallet dedicated to the Landing page. The same Community DAO Governors will be the custodians of the wallet.

We also discussed breaking it down to a timeline and goals to meet before the full amount can be released to the treasury. As of right now we are working to get the details worked out and submitted to you for review.

This will also cover where these funds will be allocated specifically.

Example: Goal 1 : 10,000
Goal 2: 5,000
Goal 3: 10,000

This is an excellent idea and I’m very excited about it. I just went through the whole post and I’d love to take this bounty. To keep it simple as the first version/funding cycle, I’d use an approach like this:

  • Understanding what is the information needed by the community (you’ve listed them and there’s the “Harmony Universe” website with tons of things as well.
  • Understanding all the content from the Harmony Ecosystem (DAOs, as you’ve mentioned as well, and guides, etc)
  • We need to answer these questions: As a user, how can I understand and navigate through Harmony’s ecosystem, and have access to all available/relevant content from a reliable and secure source of truth, so I can make better decisions and therefore increase engagement?
  • How can we measure the success? (Page-views, time on-page, bounce rate, content creation rate)

The Design will be a result of everything above. I have a proposal so we can better allocate the funds. First of all, my guess is that we need a CMS so the designs should follow at least a modular system, easier for developers to implement sections.

  • Landing page
    Overview of all internal pages, glimpse of content, and a welcoming message to the community.
  • DAOs Listing page
    Summary of all DAOs so users can navigate through them and see a small paragraph/image from each one. Easy access to links for advanced users looking for the source of truth only.
  • DAO Landing page
    Template for current and future DAOs. Should have the internal navigation.
  • DAO content page
    Pretty much navigation + content, flexible from the CMS.
  • Links
    Links should have a clear visual component and accessible so users feel safe when clicking on it (feels simplistic but we don’t want users afraid of miss-clicking
  • Harmony Projects listing (Universe) and overview
    For projects like DEXes, NFTs, Wallets, etc. This should be a page (similar to the App Store detail pages, when you open an App to download). This page should have the links for specific content of the projects. Maybe just a link to Harmony Universe may work?
  • Official Community links (listing of projects and small description)
  • Help Section with guides
    Content about staking, setting up wallets, etc. This section actually should be similar to How to use Asana, Asana tutorials, onboarding tips, and team use cases | Product guide • Asana

Scope of work:

  • Sitemap
  • UI Design of 12-15 screens (Desktop Resolution 1440px) - 6 screens being unique.
  • UI Design of 12 screens (Mobile resolution 375px)
  • Linking to Notion as the official CMS system.
  • (optional) HTML/CSS of the above screens (responsive, does not include JS)

Requisites:

  • Brand assets and guidelines
  • Pre existing libraries and design components (if possible)

Timeline:
1st delivery and validation from community - 20 days
2nd delivery and validation from community - 15 days

Amount:

  • $ 5,000 (UX/UI)

  • $ 10,000 (UX/UI/HTML/CSS)

After the original interest and suggestions from our communities, I feel like this has been the best idea so far.

This will be a community-focused, community-driven project. To make it clear for the people reading this, the landing pages will serve as a one-stop-shop for all information needed regarding the Harmony ecosystem as a whole, not just DAO specific. The landing pages will be a place where we can send anyone when they need information.

This information would exist in one place, regardless if the information could be found elsewhere. We do have information available for new users and existing community members, however, this information isn’t always easy to find, and with new users, the question is left, will they stick around to spend the time to try and find this. The landing pages can also serve as a useful tool for any project active on Harmony, their social media managers, and their communities speeding up the process of onboarding, whilst giving the user the opportunity to navigate around the rest of the eco-system with ease.

This will be the first significant cross DAO project in which communities of all core and other DAOs can contribute along with their governors. I think this will serve as one of the biggest community-driven projects, essentially built and created by the people for the people, and serve as a true hub of information. This will help us, onboard newcomers, into the space and make sure information is readily available to people when need it. We also believe this will be a great place for information for existing community members also allowing them to be active in areas of the ecosystem they perhaps weren’t previously comfortable with.

We are welcoming further suggestions as we plan to move forward with the project, also, for anyone that would like to earmark themselves to be a contributor if you believe you have a specific skill set that will help or your knowledge with a certain topic is strong, I would suggest also signing up via the Community DAO and Creative DAO Contributor forms which you can find below.

Please bear in mind that you do not need to be on the contributor list for the Community or Creative DAO to be a contributor or part of a future working group for this project in the future. However, this may ensure you will be notified slightly faster and directly when opportunities become available.

This looks like a challenging yet excellent idea and just one point of feedback from me. Planning out and budgeting for ongoing oversite and maintenance is as important as building the site to begin with, IMO. If we dont solve that, in advance, we should consider whether it is a viable product to take on right now.

Hey everyone -
Interesting proposal. I know I kicked off some conversation regarding a DAO landing page but it has grown larger. :slight_smile:

The thing I am looking for is really straightforward. It isn’t a catch all to the WHOLE harmony ecosystem – it is a specific landing page for DAOs. Seeing what @HarmonyUniverse built w/ harmonyuniverse.one and what DAOHaus has done was my inspiration.

Very specifically - I am looking for a clearing house for ALL DAO related activity on Harmony. A place where people can find DAOs, a place where they can find DAO tooling. Basically the one stop shop of the Harmony DAOes-sphere.

I am happy to see that the community is seeing a need for the same sort of portals - but some of what you discussed is beyond the scope that I was looking for.

Just thought I would drop my two cents in here.

Hi @Sam

This proposal is covering what the community has been asking for from the DAOs and is unrelated to the DAO specific pages you had requested.

There may have been some confusion with this as DAO had been mentioned a few times in the original post above, and the fact that the pages that have been created first have been DAO specific. But the overall goal of this is something much larger.

Obviously the DAO specific landing pages can be done, separated or included pending further discussions. But essentially this is completely unrelated and has been something the community has been calling for time and time again.

The DAO specific landing page will be be a relatively small task in comparison and will not require funding on this scale to be completed.

We’re sorry for the confusion with this. I think when you were brought into the last meeting regarding this it was assumed it was regarding DAO specific landing pages as those were the pages nearly complete and shown as an example.

I will also ask a few more governors to come and comment to ensure my thoughts on this are in line with what the community has been requesting and what we are pushing towards.
